Earlier this year, I think last month, majority of people were complaining of heat at night, even in daytime. I read a lot entry where people exclaimed that they're sometimes had to sleep outside at night. This explains the kind of season in my country which is dry season.
Am grateful to participate in this amazing contest to share the seasons of my country, my name is @mhizta from Nigeria, welcome to my blog.
Am going to share about the common season in my country which is my favourite, a particular season I like to skip forever, special activity people in my country people do during a particular season and the food people in my country enjoy in a particular season.

In Nigeria we have 2 season which is rainy season and dry season. Dry season start from November to April while rainy season start from April to November. Rainy season is the period of heavy rain fall while dry seasons is the period of sunlight. under dry season we have hamattan which is also a period of cold whether.

My favourite season is dry season and I chose it with reason. Number one: dry seasons make my work easier. Shading market out during raining seasons is somehow complicated because at any time the rain might fall. We also make more sales on dry seasons than rainy season. during rainy season a lot of people will not come out to buy market due to the rain, but during dry season, there's a possibility of making sales and it's show in our sales book that people buy things in dry season than in rainy season.
Another possible reason why I chose dry season is that I can easily wash my clothes, hang it, and within 30 minutes it gets dried. Dry season is the period of sunlight, I can charged my phone using solar energy, and also a clean environment free my mosquito larvae because there will be no stagnant water.

The season I want to skip is hamattan. Hamattan is under dry season. A lot of people have been suffering during hamattan, for example, when I was a kid, during hamattan, you can't use any cream you like because hamattan will make you look like someone with scales. That's why during hamattan, everyone will rush to buy Vaseline ointment, after rubbing it, you'll be shining while others prefer wearing socks and mind you, during that time, you have to distance yourself from water, I remember bathing that time when I want to go to school, I will just wash my hand and my leg, the rest na story because of cold.😂

Back in the village, what we normally do is to do farming during raining seasons because the water will make the soil soft and easy to plant either water leaf or pumpkin seeds. We use the rainy season to plant as many crops we can, this farming can be for personal use or for selling it in the market.

Talking about dry season, we make use of it when organizing an outdoor events. outdoor events might be traditional marriage or ceremony. Imagine an outdoor ceremony and along the way rain started falling, that's party scatter. From my observation, most people like dry season to rainy season.

During a rainy season or a rainy weather, what we need is something hot and peperish like hot pepper soup, pepper soup rice, hot dog, and white soup. All this foods I mentioned must be serve hot. In my villages, some people prefer taking a gin called akaikai or the one mixed with herb. Others prefer hot breakfast in the morning like hot tea, fried egg and bread. Sometimes you're the one to decide how you want to warm up your body during rainy season.

Now let's talk about dry season, dry season is a period of heat, which means at this season we need something to cool down our body temperature. Some common food or drink can be chilled yogurt, chilled juice, chilled minerals like coke fanta and sprite, chilled bottled water. At this time, no one is interested in eating hot food like in rainy season, so they prefer warm food that's, not too hot, not too cold. You can still take warm tea and bread, amala and ewedu, egusi soup and eba. no offense.
In conclusion, I have mentioned that my favorite season is dry season, and that I will like to skip hamattan weather, during rainy season we plant different crops and we organized more event on dry season.

It's good to know the two seasons we have in Akwa Ibom and not in Nigeria. We have more than two seasons in Nigeria but two prevalent as you've mentioned. As a business man you'll prefer dry season over Rainy season because of the success of your business. Running a successful business during the rainy season is always challenging, most entrepreneurs do give up during this season due to poor or less sales. You really want to skip harmattan season because of the looks on your skin, like that of a shell😂. I can vividly remember those childhood days, harmattan really dealt with me personally. Being it Rainy or dry season, it's all nature brought to existence by the Almighty, ee should embrace it because each and every one of them has its own unique characteristics.
