Litchi is a very familiar fruit to all of us. Litchi has many benefits and nutritional value. It is a summer sweet, delicious and juicy fruit. In Bangladesh it is a summer fruit and it blooms in February and the fruit usually ripens in May. Litchi is grown all over Bangladesh, but it is well cultivated in Rajshahi and Dinajpur areas of North Bengal. Not only is it juicy to eat, this seasonal fruit is one of the sources of vitamins and food energy. Apart from Bangladesh, litchi is cultivated in many countries of the world including Myanmar, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Brazil. We need to have knowledge about the benefits and nutritional value of litchi.
