Any discussion of Global Warming is based on money. We want to stop the changes because the costs of reversing them will be extremely expensive and because the costs of treating people living in a polluted environment are high. We think about how to do it so that ecology does not stop oil production, opening new mines, multiplying our wealth, and stimulating the economy. Instead of promoting public transport or cycling, we focus on the production of completely new electronic cars. Nobody talks about the need to give up red meat (cows and the methane they produce are a million times more harmful to the world than cars or a coal stove at home), because who would like to be called a vegan terrorist. Even when we are talking about ecological disasters it is more often due to the prism of the impact of droughts and floods on the prices of agricultural products, less often of the lost lives, of thousands of people forced to migrate to survive, species of plants and animals dying out at an alarming rate.

Until we change our approach, we can pretend we are acting and try to stick a plaster to the torn aorta. It is impossible to combine the overconsumption and praise of capitalist life with keeping this world habitable. We have to understand that the money-based reality and stimulating the economy with constant purchases is only one of many options, as you can see the worst because it has led the world to the brink of self-destruction in half a century.

No, the reality isn't binary. Communism or socialism is not the only alternative when capitalism fails. Out of mental laziness, we like to think like this based on history. We have to look for something new. Right now.

We have solutions under our nose, Latin American aborigines wonderfully combine respect for nature with a more modern way of life (if you think that Native Americans live only in mud huts, run only naked, or at least do not know what the Internet is - give up the neo-colonial perspective of looking at the world and look for information).

Let's learn to live less expansively again, eat more simply, produce our food, exchange products with our neighbors... Let's live in smaller houses, let's buy enough to fit our things in two or three suitcases, let's plant forests, trees, and fruit bushes in cities and villages, herbs in gardens. Let's keep thinking about how to replace the current system with more environmentally friendly alternatives.

And let's protest. In every possible way. Every time we can.
