Hello, Happy New Week. Hope it goes well for everybody.
The movie that I have watched over and over is Eat, Pray, Love. This movie is based on a book by Elizabeth Gilbert with the same title. This story is actually about the author herself. In the movie her character is played by Julia Roberts. This movie may seem a bit slow but it holds such deep meaning for me. I really love to rewatch it when I feel lost because I admire how Elizabeth managed to forge a way out of challenges she was facing.
The storyline is as follows, Elizabeth is married and her husband hopes for children. Elizabeth however discovers that much as society expects her to be happy as she lives in a beautiful house with her husband and her career is doing well, she is not happy. She literally finds herself in sobs every night on her bathroom floor. She often feels sad and she has no reason for it. She decides enough is enough and divorces with her husband.
The husband refuses to sign the divorce papers till she gave in all her property. She desires to travel and work on her healing journey. Luckily, an opportunity comes through where she is to write a book based on her travels and she is paid in advance. Her journey kickstarts with Rome where she states that her main purpose was to learn how to fully be present and enjoy life. She made great friends there who helped her with learning Italian as she taught them English.
From Rome she was off to India where she meditated, and fed herself spiritually. She made friends there to as they lived in an Ashram and their routine were mostly acts of service and they deprived themselves of the luxuries of life and really concentrated on the essence of living. Her last part of the journey was Bali where she just lived as she did all the spiritual practices she had learned like the different types of meditating.
She realizes that she would actually prefer to stay partly in Bali and the United States. She manages to build a house for a single mother and her daughter. She also meets up often with a medicine man she once visited who told her, her destiny. She also meets love in Bali which was peaceful and not chaotic like the other relationships she had, had. I love this movie because I would really aspire to go my healinh journey just like Elizabeth Gilbert.
