BASIC SECURITY ON STEEM

Secure your account by writing down your master /owner keys on a paper. Keep this paper in a secured place. (ii) Do not use your master or owner key to log in. Log in with your posting key each time you want to access your account. (iii) Be very careful with your master password because it is the only key used to get allthe keys on your account as well as the owner key. This is important because another seeing it might try accessing the account thereby stealing one"s token

MY DIFFERENT KEYS

POSTING KEY :

This key is meant to post, comment, exit, vote or follow or mute other accounts. It is used for every day every day posting. This makes it vulnerable for it being compromised or hacked.

ACTIVE KEY :

It is used for sensitive tasks like transferring funds,converting Steem Dollars,voting for witnesses, updating profile details and placing a market order.

OWNERS KEY:

This my personal key and it is needed on demand. Therefore it is special to me. I need to treasure it. Owner key is the most powerful key because it can change any key of an account,, including the owner key. Based on this, it should be stored offline in case of account compromised or other problems such as device failure. You can only recover it with this key.

MEMO KEY:

This key is used for encrypting that is converting the original information like plaintext into alternative form and decrypting memos when transferring funds .In order to encrypt a memo, use the pond /# sign before it.

LOSS OF PASSWORD/KEYS

My account has real value. I have to protect it. It is essential to keep it where I will not lose it preferably in a disk or better still in a book.

SAFE KEY: Use a safe deposit box for best redundancy in case of failure in other compartment .

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MASTER PASSWORD AND OWNER"S KEY :

Master password is used to generate all the other keys, examples are posting , Active, memo, e.t.c. Master password is used for account recovery which means you should retrieve the master password from your safe storage . It is the password I got upon signing. It should be kept safe because it is not used daily.

Sure, the posting key is used logging in. It is a carry go key. It will be hard to forget it.
The master password is used to generate all other keys. I will be careful with it.

I had saved it to my google account. I saved it in my PC. I have the hard copy. I also saved it in my telegram app. In case of device failure such as the phone, my information is intact on telegram and google.
