In today’s episode I will be talking on various keys used on steemit and their functionalities.

Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?

Yes, all keys were retrieved during first time login into steemit and these include; posting key, active key, master key, memo key, and owner key.

Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

Yes. Each key functions and restrictions are explain below.

Posting key: this is the key use to carry out everyday activities such as; posting, voting, editing, commenting, resteeming, to follow and mute other accounts.

Active key: the active key is always used to carry out more sensitive tasks which include; powering up/down, voting for witnesses, transfer of funds, to update profile details, and to place an order.

Owner key:this is an important key in the sense that it can be used to change any other keys of the account such as the owner key itself. It should only be encouraged to be put into use when necessary. The best way to keep this key should be in an offline mode. The beauty of this key is that it can be used to recover compromised account.

Memo key: when transferring funds this key is used to encrypt and decrypt memo. Pound/# sign should be used before encrypting a memo.

Master key: this key is the most important of all the keys because it can generate all other keys including the owner key. Hence its use should only be encouraged during recovery process.

How do you plan to keep your master key?

Guide your passwords with all diligence because once lost, you cannot recover your account again. Therefore, it is advisable that all passwords are save in a more saver storage such as ; on offline mode, Google mail, flash drive and also a hard copy been printed.

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Yes, and these are the steps to be taking to successfully transfer steem token to another user account:

Login by using your private active key
Click on wallet on your dashboard

Locate the STEEM icon and click it

Some boxes will drop down, and then click on transfer.

Thereafter it will direct you to another page where the owner’s account username and the receiver’s username will be imputed, as well as the amount to be transferred.

Then click unto the next option

Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

Yes, the procedures are as follow;
Login by using your private active key

Click on wallet

Click on STEEM icon

A box will dropped containing various tasks to be carried out

Click on power up

Then input the amount to power up and click on power up button.
