What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is someone else's content or idea which is presented by someone as he owns with their permission or without their permission. Plagiarized content is not only related to text it could be media, graphs, computer code or illustration etc. All posted and unpublished fabric, whether in manuscript, published or electronic form, is blanketed beneath this definition. Plagiarism can be intentional, by mistake, or accidental. Under the policies for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence
Types of Plagiarism
Here are some types of plagiarism
Global Plagiarism
In this type of plagiarism, you take the desired material entirely from someone else and pass it off as your own. For example, if you get an assignment about a topic, you find relevant material online and submit it exactly, then you are guilty of global plagiarism.
Verbatim Plagiarism or Direct Plagiarism
Verbatim plagiarism is also called direct plagiarism, it is all about copying and pasting someone else’s works into your own work without copyright attaining. If majority of text and structure are same as the original one and you delete or change a few words from the copied and pasted content, this also count as verbatim Plagiarism
Patchwork Plagiarism
In this type of plagiarism you collect passages, phrases and ideas from various forums and convert them into a new text. This type of plagiarism requires more effort than copy-paste plagiarism. While quoting and adding phrases, make it sure to cite your sources to avoid plagiarism.
Self Plagiarism
In self-plagiarism you re-use content you have already downloaded or published. It is also called a type of text malfeasance where you display a text or data completely new when you have already taken credit for it. If you have the permission to rework old ideas and passages is not plagiarism and you also cite your previous work to make their origins clear.
What is Citation?
Citation is a method by which you tell your readers from which source certain material has been obtained. If your readers also need to find more information related to this source, Citation can help them because it gives the readers all the information related to the content such as who is the author and what is the Title of work, Name and location of company and published date etc.
