To begin, How can we define Plagiarism???

What is plagiarism?
Plagiarism simply put, is a situation where someone represents the work or creativity of another man, his ideas, or expressions as His own work especially in a manner that seeks to present you as the original author.
This is regarded in computer science as a crime and is strictly prohibited on steemit as violators and plagiarist will suffer sanctions like extinction from a particular community of their posts being muted on that community. Briefly, i wasnt us to look at the different types of plagiarism that do exist universally. They are self plagiarism, Direct plagiarism, mosaic Plagiarism, Accidental plagiarism
1. SELF PLAGIARISM
T his is a situation where someone (A steemian in our case) publishes a content that was previously submitted by that same person or simply put is a way of replicating and presenting the same work piece to look just as a different one
A good number of steemians are victims to this because they will do the work remarkably in a certain community and will want to duplicate this in other communities when questions are and they are promoters of what is termed copy and paste here on steemit
2. DIRECT PLAGIARISM
this refers to a word to word, phrase by phrase copying of someone's(An author)
work without dues permission from that author. This form of plagiarism has greatly influenced so many people negatively and has deprived them from being creative
3. ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
This type of plagiarism is very common and occurs when a person accidentally copies a portion of another man’s work in the process of their findings without citing the author as the source or reference. It is seemingly difficult to avoid. It also occurs when a person fails to quote their source, when a person misquotes the source or does a paraphrasing without giving proper attributes to the author. for example this piece was read and understood from somewhere and for me to get it plagiarism free id to city the source and origin giving credits and honor to the original author

4. MOSAIC PLAGIARISM
What is mosaic plagiarism? Mosaic plagiarism is related to paraphrasing without crediting. The difference is that in mosaic plagiarism the paraphrasing is only partial. Mosaic plagiarism usually involves partial revision such as replacing certain words with synonyms, adding or deleting a few words here and there, and taking short phrases from the source and lumping them together. The result is that the paper still has the same ideas and structure as the source without giving credit. This type of plagiarism is also known as patchwriting since the work eventually becomes a patchwork of original and plagiarized material.

EFFECTS OF PLAGIARISM
1. Destroys Professional Reputation
A professional business person, politician, or public figure may find that the damage from plagiarism follows them for their entire career. Not only will they likely be fired or asked to step down from their present position, but they will surely find it difficult to obtain another respectable job.
2. Legal Repercussions
The legal repercussions of plagiarism can be quite serious. Copyright laws are absolute. One cannot use another person’s material without citation and reference. An author has the right to sue a plagiarist. Some plagiarism may also be deemed a criminal offense, possibly leading to a prison sentence.
3. Monetary Repercussions
Many recent news reports and articles have exposed plagiarism by journalists, authors, public figures, and researchers. In the case where an author sues a plagiarist, the author may be granted monetary restitution

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
You do not need to cite every single piece of information you include in your paper. General information, or things almost everyone knows, do not need to be cited. In order to avoid plagiarism, you will need to distinguish between general information, your own ideas, and ideas and information you learned or gathered from other sources. Below are some few ways of avoiding plagiarism
- Write from scratch
One of the best ways to avoid plagiarism is by writing everything from scratch. This means that you need to approach each writing project as if it is your first time to work on it. - Enclose in quotation marks and cite
Including information for your sources as evidence is almost always a part of writing. - Paraphrase or summarize and cite
As opposed to directly quoting information, there are times when you need to summarize or paraphrase ideas from your sources as a way of shortening them. For obvious reasons, you cannot quote an entire article when all you need from it is the point that it is trying to make.
