Steemians! Hope you are all doing well. Today I'm here with a new achievement post which is “Understanding curation and community”. So I will try to describe how curation works in Steem. Here are some questions to get us started.

👉: How does voting and curation work on Steemit?

There are two types of vote on Steemit. Upvote and Downvote. Like other social media platforms, you can like or dislike someone's content. When you like someone's post, you upvote it, and when you dislike a post, you downvote it.

The green arrow is an upvote and the red arrow is a downvote. You need sufficient voting power to vote. The process of reward distribution is called curation. When you receive an upvote, after 7 days you will receive a 50% author reward. A reward will not be given if you do not get any upvotes on your blog or post.

👉: What happens if you vote on a post less than 5 minutes after posting?

As you know when you get an upvote on your post you will receive a 50% author reward after 7 days and the curator will get another 50% reward. If you upvote a post before 5 minutes, then a specific percentage of the curation reward gets put back in the reward pool. You can understand this better by looking at the following table.
