What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the act of publishing someone else's text, video, image, music, or any other creation or idea as your own. In a word, plagiarism is the publication of another's creation as one's own. Again, if someone else's writing is copied, another creation is published if not your own, and even if the source is not properly credited, it is considered plagiarism.

For example- plagiarism is included, if an author omits some parts of the book written by himself and any part is written from another author's book or if someone copies a text from the internet and claims it as his own.

Types of Plagiarism

There are many types of Plagiarism in the world. So I will write about some major types of theft that you need to know. Plagiarism can be roughly divided into 5 categories, discussed below…

1. Self plagiarism

When an author re-uses parts of his earlier work in a later piece to bring it to the attention of authorities or readers, it is called plagiarism. This kind of plagiarism causes the readers to dislike the author's writing. Stealing one's creation is also a punishable offense.

Plagiarism means using someone else’s work without giving them proper credit. In academic writing, plagiarizing involves using words, ideas, or information from a source without citing it correctly. In practice, this can mean a few different things.

2. Outright plagiarism

When an author studies someone else's work, it is outright plagiarism to present himself as the original author of that work. Outright plagiarism is a unique way to deceive readers. This plagiarism makes it difficult to identify who is the real author. So this process is discouraging writers to write new texts. Which is why people are taking credit for another writer's hard work.

3. Mosaic plagiarism

Mosaic plagiarism is when an author borrows an author's work without leaving a quotation mark. That is, mosaic plagiarism is a way of trying to change an author's work by issuing synonyms of the original word, to preserve the original meaning of the original author's work.

Mosaic plagiarism is one of the main common types of plagiarism. It is a serious offense that occurs when someone borrows from the works of other writers, then pieces those quotes and phrases together as a new piece with their name on it.

4. Accidental plagiarism

Accidental plagiarism is a type of plagiarism that occurs as a result of carelessness and unintentional paraphrasing. Accidental plagiarism occurs when a publisher takes the work of an author but gives no credit or reference to that author, or when an author mistakenly paraphrases another author's work. which is very common among students. There are punishable offenses for such theft.

How to avoid plagiarism

  1. Always cite your sources correctly.
  2. This can be done using in-text citations, footnotes, etc.
  3. You can use the plagiarism checker tool to make sure your work is original.
  4. Another way to avoid plagiarism is to paraphrase the information/text and use your own words to explain the concept, etc.

Conclusion

There are many types of crimes in the world. Plagiarism in it is a very serious crime. As sentient beings, we should keep ourselves free from all kinds of punishable offenses.

At the end I am mentioning here some people here which I found generous to SteemIt newbies please verify my achievement -3.
