Achievement 6 Task: Understanding Curation and Community by @barna.uzoigwe

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my sixth achievement task which is on understanding how Curation and Community work on Steemit.
It has been an experience since joining the Steem Community and thankfully, I am almost done with all the tasks.
The core objective of this task is to help us digest and analyse the concept of curation, voting, knowing who a witness is and how to make choice of our Witness on Steemit.
It also aims to teach us about creating our own Community, knowing the various Communities on Steemit and choosing which to join.
I will be examining these concepts of Achievement 6, task, under the following questions;

Question 1

Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?

Voting allows users to support quality contents with the use of their voting power (SP).
There is a standard for rewarding both the author and curator on Steem, but on the side of the curator, it is 50% of all distributed rewards. The more Steem Power a curator has, determines how much rewards they can distribute or gain from the reward pool.
It takes up to seven days for a post which has been curated to receive its payouts and once this is done, the curator receive half of what they have voted on the post.

"65% of the new tokens that are generated go to fund the reward pool, which is split between authors and curators.
15% of the new tokens are awarded to holders of SP.
10% pays for the witnesses to power the blockchain.
10% for the SPS/Steem DAO."

Question 2

What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?

The first five minutes of any content published on the steem blockchain is termed the 'reverse auction'. During this very short period, there is a linear discount calculation done on all curation rewards in the reward pool on behalf of any newly published post (according to @sapwood).
It is important to note here that any curation done within this window loses valuable percentage of it's supposed curation reward. (see details below);

• voting after the first minute, attracts only 20% reward from the 100%.
• voting after the second minute, attracts only 40% reward from the 100%.
• voting after the third minute, attracts only 60% reward from the 100%.
• voting after the fourth minute, attracts 80% reward from the 100%.
• But when a post is upvoted from 5 minutes (or later) after it has been published, 100% of the curation reward goes to the curator.

Question 3

Who will you vote for Steem Witness? and Why?

I will vote for @steemchiller.
The reason I choose this reputable Witness is as a result of the amazing work he has done in developing such a highly regarded steem blockchain tool as the steemworld.org, a proven user-friendly STEEM TOOL for every Steemian, in short, my knowledge of this tool actually exposed me to the awesomeness of the Steemit World.

Question 4

Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

I would like to join the Project HOPE Community, because it is a Technology-driven, blockchain, AI and cybersecurity Community.
There is also room to get superlative intuition on the economy, business and marketing from the PH Community.
It is my earnest desire to be well learned in the crypto economy, hence, my absolute lure to the mentioned Community.
