Hi 👋, everyone. How has your day been so far? I hope it’s going very well. Happy new month! In this post, I’ll be writing briefly about my country, Nigeria. This post’s aim is solely based on applying the markdown knowledge I now have thanks to @cryptokannon, plus an added advantage of you learning a thing or two my country, Nigeria.

NIGERIA

Nigeria or Federal republic of Nigeria (officially), is a country on the coast of West Africa. Nigeria is bordered to the North by Niger, to the Northeast by Chad, to the East by Cameroon, to the West by Benin and to the South by Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean 🌊. Nigeria comprises 36 states and the Federal Capital territory (FCT) in Abuja, “with a population of 206.1 million (2020)”^Source. Nigeria gained her independence on October 1st, 1960 from British rule. Nigeria is very diverse culturally and ethnically, "with over 370 ethnic groups and over 500 languages"^Source. But, primarily made up of 3 major ethnic groups which are; Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. Nigeria's official language is English. The Capital of Nigeria is Abuja.

Nigeria as a country, is blessed with abundance of natural resources. Oil and Gas being the major natural resource this blessed nation possess.

Other significant natural resources that can be found in Nigeria includes:

limestone (CaCO₃)
tin
iron ore
coal
natural gas
zinc
lead
vast fertile land e.t.c

Nigeria sadly is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Corruption in Nigeria has affected all aspect of growth and development of the country, it is the country's biggest problem. Nigerian politicians misuse their power for their own benefit, involving in practices like embezzlement of public funds, election rigging, bribery e.t.c.

Corruption is potent cancer that has mercilessly eaten Nigeria to a state of stupor.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, Nigeria is a very blessed country with incredible natural landforms, vast arable land, plentiful natural resources, productive and talented citizens e.t.c. However, corruption has sadly hindered the full/efficient harnessing and utilization of these resources. Hence, causing the almost stagnant growth and development of the country.
On the other hand, due to her really productive and talented youth, plus these plentiful resources I strongly believe Nigeria will rise again!
