WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's original work. Plagiarism is sampling another person's work as yours. It's a crime and a breach of journalistic ethics.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
Direct Plagiarism: this has to do with taking someone else's work, word for word, without attribution and quotation marks.

Self-plagiarism: This is when a person incorporates their previous work into another work of theirs. If a final year student writing his/her project uses their seminar work without consulting the lecturer is committing self plagiarism.

Mosaic plagiarism: This is when one uses another author's phrases or quotes without a quotation mark or acknowledgement what so ever. If this was done intentionally or unintentionally,it's still a crime.

Accidental plagiarism: When a person misquotes their source,or unintentionally does not cute their source or uses similar words, that is known as Accidental Plagiarism.

WAYS ONE CAN AVOID PLAGIARISM
1:Always quote from your sources exactly as it is and paraphrase.
2:Keep track of your sources.
3: Always acknowledge the original author.
4:Beware of changing words, cutting or pasting.
5:Use a plagiarism checker.
