INTRODUCTION

It is of a great importance that every writer should avoid this delimma while writing his article, essay or any project. Most at times in order to make our point known or to get people to approve our work while writing we consciously, or unconsciously prigiarised. So it is of a great opportunity to write about pligiarism so as to educate young writers on the types, consequences and also how to avoid it.

PLIGIARISM

Pligiarism is the act of using another person's material, whether words or writing, without referencing the original owner of the material.
It is also the act of priotising on someone's else work without recognizing and crediting the original owner's effort.
It means gratifying your own self desire or goal with someone's else work inorder to get approval or affluence in a particular article or project.

TYPES OF PLIGIARISM

There are different types of pligiarism depending on the nature of how it is committed. They include:

SELF-PLIGIARISM

This is the process of editing your own previous work or article and then posting again to get commendation or approval from your readers.
This kind of pligiarism is often seen in most of our works, and it is always committed when the pligiarizer repost some of the words from his old article that has being commended to get approval from his audience.

MOSAIC PLIGIARISM

This type of pligiarism exists when the pligiarizer compute ideas he had gathered from different source (researcher's ideas, internet or books), and publicise it as his own work.
In this kind of pligiarism, the pligiarizer's work may look unique and broad, but if I spent closely you will notice some pligiarised materials which are gotten from different source or persons.

DIRECT PLIGIARISM

This is the act of copying word to word of another person's work without making reference of the original owner of the work.
This kind of pligiarism is very obvious and can be detected easily as long as the original owner of the work is not referenced or cited.

CONSEQUENCES OF PLIGIARISM

  1. The pligiarizer will be penalized: his article will confiscated or destroyed or he might be jailed.

  2. It can destroy the self esteem and can also end the career of the victim involve.

  3. When the pligiarizer is caught, it brings about loss of effort and labour.

  4. Anyone involve in copywrite infringement can be expelled or suspended from his profession. So it can lead to unemployment.

HOW TO AVOID A PLIGIARISED WORK

  1. Every writer should expand his knowledge regarding the topic he is writing about before he starts writing, so as to pen down his opinion or ideas according to his own understanding.

  1. It is very expedient that writers should be educated on the dangers or penalty of pligiarism so as to make writers to put in more work while presenting their articles.

  2. Organisational bodies in charge of copywrite infringement should be rigid while carrying out measures on victims of such actions.

  3. Every work not owned by the writer should be properly cited so as to avoid the work being confiscated due to pligiarism.

  4. Not every writer should be certify by the agency involved in publishing of articles unless they are properly grounded and educated on every aspect of their profession.

CONCLUSION

Pligiarism is a very serious offence as long as writing and publishing if articles are concern. It has ended many persons career or profession. It has rendered some professional personnels unemployed. It has ruin the reputation of some writers and drag their name to the mud.
So we must be careful while writing so as not to be a victim of such offence.
