As I proceed to write my achievement 3 which is on plagiarism, I will say that this platform, especially this Community are doing a great job in welcoming #newcomers.
Achievement 3 is all about plagiarism, so let me brief you on what plagiarism is all about.
What is plagiarism?
This is the act of copying another person's text or other work resulting from his or her act, ideas, creative work, and presenting it as your own especially without permission.
There are various types of plagiarism
1 Unintentional or Accidental Plagiarism:
As the name implies, is done by mistake of neglecting to cite your source. And it is punishable by law.
2 Direct Plagiarism:
This is a deliberately act of copying some elses works without any form of Changes or difference. equally it is punishable by law.
3 Mosaic Plagiarism
In the Mosaic form of plagiarism, You copy phrases from the source without using quotation marks.
4 Self Plagiarism
I equally know what is called self plagiarism, where you would submit exactly your previous work. some parts of your previous post. It will still be plagiarism and it's equally really dangerous.
5 Partial Plagiarism
In turn it occurs when the author’s academic work essay, dissertation, summary, synopsis, report, etc. using paragraphs and from other authors in their work without any citing the appropriate sources.
6 Conceptual Plagiarism
Finally It is nothing more than the use of concepts from another author’s work for the formulation of his academic work.
Know the Consequences of Plagiarism
The consequences of plagiarism can have significant impacts on students responsible for presenting others’ works as their own both in project writing and other work.
Not only a bruised reputation, but the student may even get expelled from the polytechnic. The work shall be rejected and destroyed and may face the panel and penalties may be one suspension in the department.
Content based companies such as publishing houses, blogs, and online journals seriously face the consequences of plagiarism.
The profession of writers and journalists solely depends on the content they produce.
The adversities of identified plagiarism are not only faced by the students, but it affects the respective educational institutes in the world.
Famous Plagiarism Examples
Students are not the only ones often accused of plagiarism. There are many instances of celebrities and other famous people plagiarizing speeches, writings and lyrics as well. Which is not good in this steemit.
CONCLUSION:
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
With all this points above, you would agree with me that the dangers of plagiarism should not be over-looked or given deaf ears, because it is dangerous.
Which means anything that is not yours in this platform or anywhere else, you should try very hard to cite it's source and avoid plagiarism.
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
