Hello Steemians,
I want to express my earnest gratitude to the steemitblog for their words of encouragement and upvote in my introductory post.
@bright-obias, i am truly thankful to you for your warmt welcome message and for taking your time to introduce to me the various communities and also enlightening me on each of them, your dedication, understanding and time all mean so much to me, and i feel so lucky to have come across a personality like you, you're indeed a great person. Thank you for being you.
I am so excited to have accomplished this achievement,as it is very crucial that every steemian get themselves acquinted with the various security keys and keep them safe and secret.
Security guarantees us protection against intruders and hackers.
Security Keys In Steemit
Any password or key is more likely to get compromised the more we use them. That is why steem uses a hierarchical key system to keep steemians safe.
The various keys in steem which has different permissions includes;
(1) Posting Key
The posting key is very important in steem because, it is used to upvote or downvote post, commenting, publish a post, edit a post, resteem content, follow people and mute accounts.
(2) Active Key
Active key is used to transfer tokens, power STEEM up or down, SBD conversion, vote for witnesses, place an order on an exchange, certain profile changes, publish a witness price feed and creat a new user.
(3) Owner Key
The owner key is required to recover the other keys, recover account and decline voting rights.
(4) Memo Key
The only thing memo key can do is encrypt and decrypt private messages that are sent through the blockchain. It is not commonly used presently.
(5) Master Key
The master key is the key to open all locks. It grants full access that by-passes all the restrictio, the master key must be provided for password or key reset. The master key is not commonly used.
Conclusion
Haven known the uses of the various steem keys, it is now very important for stemians to keep their keys secret especially the master key that grants other keys total control, this will prevent someone else from gaining access to our blog.
Through this, i learnt that to maintain security for the system, the steemit users should be able to understand these keys since they have different functions and be able to request permission before doing a specific action.
To the attention of @cryptokannon and @njaywan, this is my achievement 2 task.
Thanks for reading through.
