After the successful completion and verification of achievement 1, my next assignment is to write on the basic security on steemit platform. No doubt, it is really very important to get known about the basic securities, which protect your account and definitely your struggle. Alright, let’s get to the basic points of security measures.
Primarily we have to understand that what is security, what we have to protect, and how we can protect it effectively. Basically, security means to guard something from unsanctioned access in any means. We used many sorts of security tools for this purpose, as for example, passwords, pin codes, figure scans, facial recognition, and iris recognition, and so on. As we move forward in the advancement of security tools, it goes more difficult to manage the securities. Let’s discuss the security system of steemit precisely.

Steemit Security

Initially, we have to understand the basic security structure of Steemit account. Steemit provides the set of public and private password keys for different functioning on steemit accounts like posting, managing wallet, encryption, and decryption of accounts data. Common examples of keys are active key, posting key, owner key, and master password. Let’s discuss each security key to understand the functions of these password keys.

1. Master Password

This is the most important key, as it is the master of all keys. As the name clarifies, the master password is the basic password that we acquire after creating an account on Steemit as the password provided by any website upon signing up for their account. Master Key can be used for changing the owner keys and consequently all other keys. You must have to protect and save the master password in any offline medium like writing it on your diary or a paper.

2. Owner Key

The owner key is another most controlling and critical key of your Steemit account. The owner key can also perform the basic task on steemit account besides using another sort of key like posting. The owner key can also be used for changing the account owner key itself. So, seriously keep the owner key in private and safe custody on any offline medium.

3. Active key

Active key is used to activate the steemit account for any day-to-day operation. It can perform all the tasks, which we intend to perform. The active key can perform all the tasks that the posting key can perform as well active key can also perform other complex responsibilities such as transactions of trading and transferring funds. Whenever you have to perform these types of tasks, we have to use the Active key to perform these tasks. Finally, the Active key can perform all tasks on steemit except changing other keys of the account.

4. Posting key

We can say that a posting key is a key, which can be used for general purposes and it is not as risky as the previous ones. The posting key can be used while we have to do some common tasks on your steemit account like publishing a post, resteem the post, upvote the post, following other accounts, commenting on the post of other users, etc. It is recommended to use the posing key for general use of steemit account because, in case of compromise, it will not harm your financial assets.

5. Memo Key

Memo Key is not functioning in Steemit account but it can be used for encrypting and decrypting memos as well as, it can be used for sending and receiving private messages.
