What is Plagiarism

"Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition." Source

Plagiarism can be said to be the act of stating or using someone else's work without giving them due credit. It can be oral content, written content or even images etc.
Once they are used by someone who isn't the original author and due credits aren't acknowledged, such works can be said to be plagiarised.

Plagiarism leads to theft of intellectual property. A creator can't spend time and resources making useful contents, only for someone to use such contents for their benefits without acknowledging the owner of the content. It's intellectual property theft, and also a punishment offence if legal action is taken.

Types of Plagiarism

Direct Plagiarism:
This is outrightly stating somebody's work without acknowledging the author. it's copying somebody's work and presenting as your own.

Accidental Plagiarism:
This occurs when a person forgets to cite the source of their works or inputs a wrong source. But there's no excuse for plagiarism.

Patch writing:
The occurs when a person changes some of the words of somebody's work to make it appear new, instead of stating it as a quote from the author.

Self Plagiarism:
This occurs when a person copies their past works and uses them as a new project, without proper referencing.

Solutions to Plagiarism

  • Paraphrse or quote your sources also add your own ideas.
  • Keep track of the sources you consult in your research so as to reference them.
  • Credit the original author in an in-text citation and also in your reference list
  • Use a plagarism checker before you submit your work.

Conclusion:
"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them".

Hi @cryptsam, thank you for taking part in this achievement task.

You will need to include your introduction post anytime you make a post. To do so, check out this below

[My introduction post here](then paste the link here]

That way, only what is written in the first bracket will show.

Then the last oath that you wrote should be in a quote form to show that they were lifted elsewhere.

From now henceforth, no act of plagiarism is to be seen in your publications. You need to produce original contents. And always use the #steemexclusive which means that whatever you share in steemit will not be shared in other similar social media platforms like hive, and the like and it means you have not copied other people's work to post as yours.

Then correct the spelling of #achievement3

I don't understand the introduction post part Boss...
