introduction
I am highly delighted to present this my introduction, after joining this world class social media platform aptly called “Steemit” and having my account opened by @focusnow.
As a matter of fact, I have been all along itching to join a platform such as Steemit, where I can be expressing my god-given talent as a writer, and I thank God so immensely that I have found that platform at last.
About me
My name is Hilary Uche Obasi, I am a native of Akanu Ohafia, in Ohafia Local Government Area, in Abia State, in Nigeria.
I was born on Tuesday, 16th March, 1965,at Ikwere, in Rivers State, Nigeria when my parents were residing there before the Nigerian civil war broke out in 1967.
Education
I started my primary school education in 1976, at Ukpacha Primary School, Akanu Ohafia-- my home town. I did my primary one there, and thereafter, I relocated to Aba to stay with my mother, consequently, I continued with my primary school education at Umuogele Mbato Community Primary School, where I did my primary two to three, and because the school was very much over-populated, they were running morning, and afternoon sections.Then to further solve the problem of over-population, some of us were moved to Owerri-Aba Community Primary School,where I did my primary four to primary six,and took my First School Leaving Certificate Examination in 1982.
Equally, in the Common Entrance Examination, we took, I made Score 32 out of Score 36, and I was posted to Wilcox Memorial Secondary School, Ogborhill, Aba. But I was eventually advised to go to City Commercial College, Aba. From there, I moved to National Vocational Secondary School, Aba. And then to Iheorji Commercial College, Aba.
After my secondary school education, I moved to Makurdi, in Benue State to learn motor vehicle mechanics, at North Bank Mechanic Village. I spent over four years training as a motor vehicle mechanic apprentice, after which I did journeyman for some time, and eventually opened my own motor mechanic workshop, known as Hilary Motor Mechanics, North Bank Makurdi.
However, in the process of time, I received the call of God to become a preacher of the gospel ,and so, I proceeded to Trinity College of Ministerial Arts (TRICOMA ), Aba, where I did my Diploma in Theology( Dip.Th )
Meanwhile, after finishing my theological education, I also went into secular teaching, because of my passion for teaching and education; and to professionalize as a teacher, I went for my NCE ( National Certificate of Education ) at the National Teachers Institute(NTI) at the Ogborhill, Aba study centre where I studied English Language Education,
from there I proceeded to Abia State College of Education, Aba study centre.
My career
And ever since, I have been in the teaching profession ,and I have taught in over 7 different schools, in Aba, and I am also practicing gospel ministry as well; meanwhile, I have also been an active crusader for moral rectitude, equally contributing in re-ordering our societal value system to project the value of education.
Marital status
I got married on Sunday 24th March 2013, but lost my wife Eunice on January 3rd January 2018, and she was buried on April 26th 2018. And I am yet to remarry.
Hobbies
I like reading, and writing with unquenchable passion. In fact I can say that I am a bibliomaniac when it comes to reading.
How I got to know about Steemit
A student of mine introduced the platform to somebody who told me about it. And, indeed, I have fallen in love with the platform, and I believe I would be warmly welcomed.
