Hello Steemians

I want to share some knowledge on steemit basic security, the different kinds of security keys in steemit and how to use them.

SECURITY ON STEEM

Steemit has provided security by the enforcement of different types of keys which includes the posting key, active key, private key, memo key and master password to maintain order and each of these keys, has important role to play in the steemit world and it is relevant that the steemit world is secured inorder for fraudsters not to tamper with the account of steemit participants.

HAVE I RETRIEVE ALL MY SECURITY KEYS ON STEEMIT ?

Yes I have. At first after signing up on steemit I retrieved all my security keys and kept them in a safe place where no one can get access to it.

MASTER PASSWORD

The master password is very important in the steemit world and it is the highest password that governs the other security keys. It is designed to solve a lot of difficulty like changing of password, recovery of account and in terms of getting other keys in case of loss, therefore should be kept in a safe place.

HOW TO KEEP MY MASTER PASSWORD

If I get to misplace my master password and private owner key there is no way my account can be recovered and for this reason I made sure I have stored my master password and private owner key in a safe place where a third party cannot get access to it to avoid stealing of account and tokens and where I can easily get it whenever necessary.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF STEEMIT SECURITY KEYS

Steemit security keys includes:
1 Memo key
2 Private owner key
3 Posting key
4 Active key

FUNCTIONS AND RESTRICTIONS OF THESE KEYS

Each of these security keys functions and restrictions are as follows:

MEMO KEY

The memo key plays an important role in the steemit world in terms of security. Memo key is used to transfer coded messages. It is used to conceal information through a code. It is used in terms of transferring of funds not publicly known.

OWNER KEY

This key, as the name implies is a very strong and important key that is not accessible by the public apart from steemit account user and if by any means someone gain access to this key, the user steemit account can be hacked. Private owner key is used for the recovery of account and also to change account keys. This key is ought to be kept in a private manner.

POSTING KEY

Posting key, is another relevant key in steemit world. Without this key, there is no way steemit participants can login to participate in this great platform by following or muting other users, commenting, downvoting, upvoting, posting, resteem and participating in contests.

ACTIVE KEY

This key enables you to gain access to your steemit wallet and carryout concealed task. With this key, steemit user wallet can be accessed.

WHAT CAN I USE ACTIVE KEY TO DO ?

I can use active key to do some certain things in my wallet such as:
• Powering up and Powering down steem
• Converting my SBD to SP
• Transferring of funds
•Vote fellow users
• Make maket orders
• Exchange tokens.

HOW DO I TRANSFER MY STEEM TOKEN TO ANOTHER STEEM USER ACCOUNT ?

Below are steps on how to transfer my steem token to another steem user.

Step 1

I login into my steemit wallet using my username and password.

Step 2

When I have successfully login into my wallet. I clicked on the arrow on Steem, below it were many options such as Transfer, Transfer to savings, Power up, Trade and Market.
I clicked on Transfer since I'm demonstrating how to transfer Steem to another user account.

Step 3

You will be directed to a page after clicking on transfer, where you can input the person's username you want to transfer the Steem to and also the amount and then click on next.

HOW CAN YOU POWER UP MY STEEM ?

Below are steps on how to power up steem.

Step 1

I login into my steemit wallet using my username and password.

Step 2

Click on the arrow in Steem and select power up option.

Step three

After clicking on the power up option, it will take you to a page where you will input the amount you want to power up then you click on power. You have successfully completed powering up your Steem.
