PLAGIARISM
Question
What do you understand by the word Plagiarism
Answer
Plagiarism is the act of using part or whole of another person's content without citing or referencing the source of the idea you took it from .This content you took can be images, texts, their creative works without giving credit to them. This act can be penalized because it's done without taking legal permission from the main author and it has severe consequences especially when we consider copy right laws.

From here, let us discuss about the various types of Plagiarism while citing out the common ones people use nowadays
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

  1. SELF PLAGIARISM :
From the name we can say that it occurs when an one copies his/her own previously published content and this has can caused a lot of debate nowadays as many people especially the journalist that are confused in the use of copying their previous report to rebroadcast it , so here the fact is that you are copying your old report to rebroadcast and that is tantamount to plagiarism
  2. ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM:
Here ,it is when one unintentionally copies another person's work without knowing and without rephrasing. This mostly happens out of negligence but the fact remains that it’s plagiarism and can be deal with seriously with penalty consequences if eventually seen by the other author or copy right authorities.
  3. DIRECT PLAGIARISM:
This occurs when an author copies the content of different articles from different authors word to word without adding citation and claim it's his work or content . This can call for a penalty with severe punishment following.
  4. COMPLETE PLAGIARISM: This case here is a very serious one as to when someone who calls him/her self a content creator, steals the content of another author and write an article there and publish it fully claiming it belongs to he/she. This is what severe fraud and has serious repercussions.
  5. PARAPHRASING PLAGIARISM:
As the name denotes, we can say it's very common in plagiarism as it involves copying another person's content from a source into your own words and retaining it's original meaning . To be precise, it means making little changes about the words and words the main author initially use to create his/her content
    6)MOSAIC PLAGIARISM:
This occurs only when another author copies sentences or phrases of other authors which contain similar ideas then join them together as one to form a new content .
Haven discussed the main types of Plagiarism, I will then move to the effects plagiarism.
    EFFECTS OF PLAGIARISM
    • Plagiarism may attract copyright laws against the plagiarizer which is a serious problem especially in the domain of non referencing the person of which the plagiarism was copied from.
    • plagiarism tends to make a person mentally lazy to reason, think or analyze his/her own content.
    • Plagiarism can cause waste of time because when your work is identified ,it will obviously mean you should re-starting from square one because the previous one will completely cancelled.
From here, let us now look at what we can do to avoid Plagiarism.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism can be avoided by:-

  1. properly citing out the sources of data when writing out your own content like using some words that doesn't belongs to you ,you make sure you place the full name of the source on your content even on images, make sure you cite out the source.
  2. Avoid paraphrasing when writing ideas or information from a source into your own words and retaining it's original meaning.
  3. Proper quotation marks by making reference to someone content, this enables your work to be free from plagiarism as you will become the rightful owner of the content.
    CONCLUSION
In conclusion, anything that is not yours in this platform or in other platforms should be clearly cited. You should make sure not to plagiarized and always give clear evidence by citing or including the source of your content because plagiarism can destroy your reputation tremendously.
To this end, I will like to acknowledge @chiabertrand and @acbaby who have given me the guides to go through this achievement 3 with falling into the drag nets of plagiarism checker.
To say the last word, we should always endeavor to avoid plagiarism by all means possible and always do our best to put out original content. This will not only be good for steemit but will make you master a wide variety of disciplines as you write about them
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them
