Greetings to you all members of this wonderful platform and my fellow newcomers, I would like to thank everyone who supported and commented on my previous post. This is my achievement 3 post and the objective of this is to ensure that myself as a newcomer understands how to create and share quality and original contents that are completely free from plagiarism.
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM? AND WHY IS IT AGAINST CONTENT ETIQUETTE.
Source
Plagiarism can be defined as the taking, presenting and using someone else's ideas, words and work as their own with or without their consent or permission. This action can be done deliberately and on purpose or by mistake, but whether by mistake or not plagiarising someone else's ideas is still very wrong.
Plagiarism is bad and should not be mentioned amongst us steemians because plagiarising the work of another person is basically theft and defrauding both of this vile acts done spontaneously because taking the ideas of another can be reagarded as intellectual theft and presenting it as your own is regarded as fraud because you are making the people who read and credit the work think it's yours. For this reason it is against content etiquette on the steemit platform and anywhere else.
HOW CAN I AVOID PLAGIARISM WHEN CREATING CONTENTS.
PARAPHRASE YOUR SENTENCES: When making or creating a quality post or content making research is inevitable we have to go to the internet to get more information but when we do find the point we are looking for we do not want to copy word for word from the source the information we found and need for our post we want take time rephrase it and add our own ideas.
PROPER CITATION OF RESEARCH SOURCES: Any idea, text, picture or any taking from the internet,the source should be properly cited. By doing this we avoid plagiarism by giving credit to the original author and creator of that content or post.
Here is an example of proper citation of a post;
It is not sufficient to simply note that “text source is Wikipedia”. A link to the specific Wikipedia page where the content came from is required. If numerous sources were used, adding the source after each separate idea is recommended.source
USE PLAGIARISM CHECKER BEFORE YOU SUBMIT: Sometimes by accident even with our rephrasing of our researched post we might still end up plagiarising so in order to avoid we can use a plagiarism checker to scan our contents and post to be hundred percent sure nothing was plagiarised when creating the post. The steemit platform has third party site that helps to scan for plagiarism to make use of it click this link. source
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
Hi emma9, you need to put an example of citation to your post., To do so, you will need to add > in front of a group of words or sentence
