Hello steemians, am glad to share with everyone today on the basic security on steem,having knowledge about the basic security on steem,is very important because steemit is a block chain social media platform, once the password is lost,it can't be retrieved again,so learning how to secure your account is so vital.

Going through the basics of security on steem,has really helped me to know the importance and functions of the master password, the owners key,posting key,active key and the memo key, i @emyprince have been able to retrieve all my keys.
Let me explain to us about the different password and keys and there function

MASTER PASSWORD
The master password is the first password you get when you sign up, it is be used to generate all the keys,it's gives birth to the other keys,after signing up,the first password i retrieved was my master password, i used it to retrieve other keys, just by going to steemit. com wallet.

POSTING KEY
This key is needed for daily logins,because the key allows us to post, vote,edit,comment,resteem,follow or mute other accounts,i have retrieved my posting key, that is why I am able to post on the platform.

OWNER KEY
The owners key is used to recover compromised account,it is so important that it can be used to change the key of an account, including the owner key,because of its importance,it is advisable to save a copy of the owner's key offline.

ACTIVE KEY
This key is used for power up and down, conversation, converting steem dollar, voting for witness, transfer funds, updating one's profile details and avatar,and placing market orders.

MEMO KEY
This key is used when users wants to encrypt and decrypt memos when transferring funds.inorder to encrypt a memo,use the pound/#sign before it.

Since my MASTER PASSWORD is so important and can be used to generate all the other keys, including the owner key, and it cannot be retrieved once it is lost,I have made sure i save a copy of my master password and also all my keys offline, in my private note pad,personal flash drive, and also on my personal note book hidden from any one.i have saved my master password and other keys in such a way no other person can have ascess to it,because i know how important it is,and i can't afford to loose it.

HOW TO TRANSFER STEEM
Steem can be transferred one account to another, users can trade with it, it can be powered up to steem power.

To transfer your steem to another steemit account,you have to Login into your wallet using your username and active key.
After logging into your wallet using your username and active key,
Click on the arrow beside the steem number. A drop down menu appears. click on transfer

Put the username of the person you want want to transfer to and the amount of steem you want to transfer, and click on next

Then finally you comfirm your transfer by clicking ok.

HOW TO POWER UP STEEM
Login into your wallet with your username and your active key Click on the arrow beside the steem number. A drop down menu appears. click on powerup

Enter the amount of steem and click power up
