"Etiquette Guidelines for Steem/Steemit Platform
By Fatemakolkata(25) greeting in Newcomers' Community •
HELLO, DEAR NEWCOMERS!
Welcome to my blog! I trust your journey on the platform has been pleasant thus far. As a newcomer, there are certain practices you should adhere to on the platform, as well as ones you should avoid. Plagiarism, for instance, is a well-known offense, but there are other infractions, like plagiarism, that we should steer clear of. In this article, I'll delve into the etiquette principles of Steem.
Steemit comprises users from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their unique perspectives. Therefore, there are established guidelines and norms, or you can call them codes of conduct, that every user must observe to maintain this space as enriching and enjoyable. I hope you'll find this information beneficial. Let's explore these rules in the following paragraphs.
DO NOT BEG FOR VOTES:
Avoid soliciting votes from others. If your post resonates with readers, they'll naturally support it. Also, refrain from expecting reciprocation if you vote for someone.
Paying for votes is deemed abusive behavior.
Voting for your own post is discouraged. Steemit is a social platform, so let others assess and vote for your content based on its merit. If your content is informative, educational, or creative, let it speak for itself.
DON'T OVERPOST:
Limit the number of posts you make per day. Bombarding your followers with numerous posts can overwhelm them and diminish their interest in your blog. Moreover, exceeding a certain threshold of daily posts can reduce your payout.
DON'T BE FAKE OR CLAIM OTHERS' WORK AS YOUR OWN:
Avoid earning rewards through impersonation, plagiarism, or making false claims. The community is vigilant, and such actions will likely be detected.
DON'T RESTEEM EVERYTHING YOU SEE:
Similar to over-posting, indiscriminate resteeming can inundate your followers' feeds. Reserve this feature for content that adds value or interest to your audience, such as updates from Steemitblog, important news, or engaging contests.
Avoid bribing people for votes, follows, or resteems, and refrain from soliciting money directly. Such actions can tarnish your reputation and alienate your followers.
DO PROVIDE VERIFICATION:
In a world where dishonesty prevails, it's important to comply with requests for further verification. Always include a link to your verified introductory post at the end of each new post. This helps establish trust among genuine users and may lead to more votes.
LET GO OF WRONGDOINGS:
Forgive and forget. If someone apologizes for their mistake, extend them another chance. Holding grudges only harms you, the other party, and the community as a whole.
CHECK OUT OTHERS' BLOGS, READ, VOTE, AND LEAVE COMMENTS:
Take the time to engage with fellow users' posts. Upvoting and leaving thoughtful comments can be encouraging for them. Remember the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Share great posts on other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to promote our wonderful platform.
ALWAYS OFFER ASSISTANCE AND EXPRESS GRATITUDE:
We all start somewhere, and help from others is often crucial, especially for newcomers. If someone seeks your assistance, be courteous and lend a helping hand. Don't forget to express gratitude to those who assist you—it's essential!
REPLY TO YOUR COMMENTS:
Acknowledge and appreciate the time and effort others invest in commenting on your posts. Failing to reply may be seen as ungratefulness.
ADMIT YOUR MISTAKES AND APOLOGIZE:
Demonstrate integrity and humility by owning up to your mistakes and offering sincere apologies. Doing so earns respect from others.
TAKE A BREAK WHEN NEEDED:
It's okay to step back and take a breather when you feel overwhelmed. If conflicts arise, give yourself time to reflect and regain perspective.
DON'T DROP UNRELATED LINKS IN COMMENTS:
Avoid link spamming in comments—it's considered poor etiquette.
DON'T ENGAGE IN TAG SPAMMING:
Use tags appropriately. Only use tags relevant to your post's content. Avoid unnecessary drama and focus on constructive engagement.
DON'T BE A TROLL:
Respect others and refrain from causing trouble or harassing fellow users. Act with maturity and kindness.
In conclusion:
I hope you find these guidelines informative. Let's uphold etiquette on the platform to ensure that Steemit remains a safe and thriving community. Thank you!"
