Today my task is to properly apply some markdowns I’ve learnt on @crytokannon’s post.

Markdown is simply a basic tool that aids web writers to produce content in a format that is very easy to read and appreciate.
I will use a few examples to explain this in my article.

The 2021 Champions League final in review

In May, Manchester City took on Chelsea in what was their first ever Champions League final appearance. This came at the end of a very surprisingly successful season after starting off quite poorly. Chelsea signed a new manager mid-season and he made great progress in the short time he had last season, taking Chelsea all the way to the final in both the Champions League and the English FA Cup.

Before the final, in an interview; Guardiola, Man City’s manager, had this to say:

“I never thought this was the season to get to the final.”

"The margins are so small and have not changed much. Now we are quite satisfied to get to the final but we know if you don't have a huge desire to win it, we know it won't be possible to win the game and win the Champions League."

The context of the last Champions League final was so unique because both team so met 3 times in the season before finals night. Manchester City lost 2 of the 3 meetings prior to the 29th of May when the final was played. Below is a table comparing the numbers of matches won, drawn and lost by both teams after their first Premier league meeting.

Further comparison of the tactics used by both teams

Chelsea played their usual defensive formation with 3 centre-backs and two wing-backs on either wing. They also fielded 2 defensive midfielders which means they were very very tight at the back. 3 attackers with quick pace were placed at the front to harm their opponents on the counter.

In the end, Chelsea beat Manchester City in what was a complete defensive masterclass by a goal to nil, earning them their second UEFA Champions League title.
