1. WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

According to plagiarism.org, the general definition of PLAGIARISM means actions:

  • Turning in someone else's work as your own, copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
  • Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks,
  • Giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
  • Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
  • Copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not source

Most cases of plagiarism can be avoided, however, by citing sources. Simply acknowledging that certain material has been borrowed and providing your audience with the information necessary to find that source is usually enough to prevent plagiarism source

2. WHY USERS NEED TO CITE SOURCES?

  • Steemit provides a blockchain protocol to public content with a quick digital token being STEEM. STEEM allows users to earn their awards by using their brains. In other words, it can be called Proof of Brain.
  • Users need to cite our sources to make and share original content and quality posts. Contents that are plagiarised or copied/pasted are not original contents.
  • Plagiarism is the appropriation of another person's work without the permission of the author. In other words, it is copyright infringement. Users can meet legal problems for violating copyright laws. If you are using images that are not your own, you have to be sure that you are allowed to use them and cite the source of images.

I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
