Taiwanese media DigiTimes quoted industry sources as saying that TSMC will advance 3nm process technology and use it to produce the A16 Bionic processor for the iPhone 14 launched in 2022. This technology is also expected to be applied to Mac computers at the same time. Earlier, it was reported that Apple has reserved all 4nm manufacturing capacity of TSMC for use as Apple Silicon processors for Mac computers.
If the DigiTimes news is true, Apple may move from A14 Bionic's 5nm process to A16 Bionic's 3nm process within two years. The iPhone 13 series, which is expected to be released in September of this year, will continue to use TSMC’s 5nm process technology for its A15 Bionic processor. Earlier this month, there were rumors that Apple had ordered 100 million A15 Bionic from TSMC. I believe they are interested in the iPhone 13 series. There is considerable confidence.
