I am so happy to have come this far and I want to appreciate myself and most of all God whose grace has been behind the level of achieved success. So far so good, it has been a wonderful experience, educative and informative as well and I have every reason to appreciate being a steemian.
My achievement 5 has been completed and duly verified, to that effect I am proceeding to achievement 6 task.
Achievement 6 task is all about community and curation intending to get beginners acquainted with the use of third party application, getting them to know how to create a community or join an existing community, offer them the knowledge of how curation work and as well get them to know what witness is and how to vote for witness.
Questions:
Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?
Yes, I do;
Anytime one exercises the stake-weighted influence power, it will be discovered that two buttons exist in every post: Upvote & Downvote.
- Upvote
Anytime the upvote button is put to use, it will distribute the reward, and a specific amount will come up in the post payout which is subject to the stake weight or Steem Power (SP) as well as the voting weight. Thus from the reward pool, the reward will flow to the post being upvoted.
- Downvote
The downvote is the direct opposite of upvote, hence when the downvote button is pressed, the reward will return to the reward pool, the amount of reward from the post payout that will return to the pool is dependent on the influence power of the downvoter, that is to say, the stake weight or Steem Power (SP) and the voting weight.
In simple terms, Upvote is the process by which rewards are distributed whereas downvote on the other hand is a process by which rewards are redistributed. Consequently, since the ecosystem is a decentralized one, everyone is entitled to make decisions as to how to distribute or redistribute depending on influence power.
Curation is just up-voting a post utilizing the upvote button.
A curator is not charged for curating rather earns. This means that curation reward is earned through upvote while no curation reward is earned through downvote. Curation is most rewarded and best done if it is done between 5 mins and 6 days 12 hrs age of a post, as explained by @sapwood.
What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?
According to @sapwood in his explanations, the age maturity of a post is 7 days and within these days, a post receives either upvote or downvote.
If a vote is done before 5 let's say at 2 minutes, the curator loses 60% of the curation reward, likewise, if the vote is done at 4 minutes after posting, 20% of the curation reward will be lost. The bottom line is that a curator gives up a certain percentage of the curator's reward if a post is voted at any time less than 5 minutes.
Who will you vote for Steem Witness ? and Why?
@steemchiller would be my choice witness to vote reason being that he is an amazing genius, and has carried out amazing work in the development of an extremely regarded blockchain tool like steemworld.org which has proven to be a highly user-friendly tool as long as Steemit world is concerned. I believe my experience with this tool is not different from other that of other steemians as I was exposed by this tool to the wonderful steemit world.
Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?
I will choose to join the Financial Security community because the community takes extreme measures to ensure that our general finance is enhanced and secured. In addition to that, the security of our steemit wallet and the coins in and outside the steem blockchain is protected as well. The community shares educative and informative ideas on the best practices that would secure our financial life as well as our daily dealing, ensuring we don't go bankrupt.
My candid appreciation goes to @sapwood for his explicit explanations as regards this achievement task, also my thanks go to @cryptokannon for the various guides on the journey of these tasks. I thank @xkool24, my mentor, for his tutorials.
I am @hisgeneral saying, thank you.
Congratulation for the completed task so far. Steem on
