Definition Of Computer

A computer is any device, mechanical, electrical or electromechanical with the ability to accept data as input, analyse, process and display results based on the users instructions with high speed and accuracy.

Computer as a system

The computer is said to be a system because it is made up of different components that work together to achieve a common goal which is the conversion of data into information.

Components of the Computer System

A computer system is made up of three basic components which are the hardware, the software and the end user

Component	Description
Hardware	This is the physical part of the computer which is made up of things that can be seen and touched.
Software	This are set of instructions that tells the computer what to do and how to do it.
End User	The person using the computer for leisure or work. In some text, the end user is called the humanware.

Computer Hardware

Computer hardware is further subdivided into input, processing and output devices. A collection of various devices that perform similar functions is called a unit. Other sub unit under hardware are storage, and memory units

Computer Software

Computer software gets subdivided into two basic groups. The system software and application software. Though we have other sub groups like, utilities, compilers and antivirus

Computer End User

The end users are made up of professional and amateur users of the computer.
