Achievement 2 @Jeffyt Task : Basic Security on Steem

Hello everyone, it’s @jeffyt. You’re welcome to my blog. Today I’ll be completing my achievement 2 task which is about giving answers to questions on the basic securities on Steem. I believe that while I’ll be answering the questions here, most of you will learn more about the basic securities here, how to keep your passwords safe and also know the right password to use while logging in to do certain things. This is very important for all the newbies on steemit and those who have been making mistakes for some time now. Lots of accounts here have been stolen due to some of the mistakes people have been making and I promise that if can give a complete focus on this article, you’ll never make such mistakes others made. Please stay cool while reading.

Question 1
Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?

Answer 1:
Yes, I’ve retrieved all my keys and I’ve understood all the security systems here.

Question2
Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

Answer 2: Yes. I know and understand all the key functions and restrictions. Here are some brief details about all the keys and restrictions.

• Owner key: this key is the most powerful key which can be used to change all other keys. It’s only meant to be used when necessary. It’s also used to recover a compromise account. This key is very important and it’s meant to be stored offline.
• Posting key: this key is used whenever you want to post, resteem, edit, vote, follow or mute other accounts. It’s rightful for users to be logging in to their account with the posting key.
• Active key: this key is used whenever you want to power up/down transactions, voting for witnesses, placing a market order, making transactions and updating your profile details
• Memo key: this key is used to encrypt and decrypt memos when transferring funds.

Question 3
How do you plan to keep your master password?

Answer 3: The master password being the most important password of all here need to kept in a safe place because it’s the password I can use to retrieve all other password, so it needs to be kept in a safe place to avoid being hacked. So I already kept my master password in the safest place offline incase of hard drive failure.

Question 4
Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Answer 4: Yes I know. It’s very simple. First of all, I’ll go to my wallet, then I’ll click on the down arrow key which is beside STEEM/STEEM DOLLAR where I’ll make my transaction. I’ll click on the the transfer, put in the account name that I want to make the transaction to, after that I’ll click on the amount column and put in the amount I want to transfer. Finally I’ll put in my memo key and click on transfer, Then my funds will be successfully transferred.

Question 5
Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

Answer 5:
Yes I know how to power up my steem. First of all, I’ll go to my steem wallet, then click on Steem, and finally select power up. That’s how to power up my steem.

However, I’m sure I’ve been able to give answers to all the questions here. So I’m sure lots of people here will know the right ways and places to use each and every key.
