First of all let's see what is citation. In our writing we produce articles, posts, essays and other reports in order to convey our new knowledge and ideas to the community. To produce these creative articles or posts we have to refer to other knowledge sources such as books, articles, web pages and various kinds of sources produced by others.

In order to create new articles we have to access the existing knowledge because normally new knowledge is often based on the existing knowledge. Here we have to study other people's creations to gain and interpret to the existing knowledge. We have to analytically point out other's ideas to support our creations.

"A citation is the way you tell your readers that certain material in your work came from another source. It also gives your readers the information necessary to find that source again."

What if I don't cite my sources or if I forget to cite?
Failure to cite appropriately intentionally or unintentionally is plagiarism.

According to the Oxford Dictionary Plagiarism is:
“The practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own”

"In precise words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's artwork and lying approximately it in a while."

Ethically, we cannot express other's ideas as our own and therefore, we have to give credit to the owner or creator of that product. Here we need to follow a specific as well as unambiguous method to give reference to others creations. This process is called citation. It ensures the intellectual property rights and avoids plagiarism.

So I hope to share basic idea of citation and plagiarism through this post. So guys be creative! produce and share quality posts with original content and avoid plagiarism.

See you soon! 😊

Hello, sorry for the late response. Done editing my post and put some info about the pictures sources. Having hard times editing it since im just using my cellphone. Hoping for your considerations. Thank you

@jillianfox18 ok since you can only access steemit via mobile phone, please be careful when you use photos from the internet for your content in Steemit. You will get the risk of copyright infringement and if other community members caught your photos without sources/proper credit they might downvote your post/take away your post payout. For proper sources format on photos please put it like this [Image Source](the website link here) so the long website links not appear like those on your post now.

HoWow... thank you so much for that information. It really helps alot. Nexttym ill make it sure that there will be link for the sources. Tnx again 😊
