Hello steemians, I am excited with my journey here on steemit. I have been learning a lot of things, of which I also read content etiquette by @cryptokannon. With this acquired knowledge, I will be sharing my thoughts here on content etiquette and more importantly on plagiarism.

What is Etiquette?
This is a code of conduct governing a particular group of people of which those bound by this conduct must obey. In steemit community there are some codes of conducts that must be adhered to, of which failure to follow this laid out principles might result in discipline.
One of these codes is No Plagiarism!!.

What is plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the act of taking or copying someone's work or idea without citing or crediting the owner of the work. A lot of people copy people's work on social media without crediting or citing the owner of the work or idea. But in steemit community, there is an exception. It is mandatory to cite the owners of a particular idea or work. I will try as much as possible to show how citing is done on steemit. Let's look at two types of plagiarism that are easily done.

Types of plagiarism

1.Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and without quotation marks.source

2.Accidental plagiarism is a type of plagiarism whereby a person paraphrases someone's work or idea unintentionally without citing the owner.source

In the types of plagiarism above, it can be seen that there is a source close to it which is a link that credits the owner of the idea. This is how citing is done in steemit.

Ways to Avoid Plagiarism

The following are ways in which one can avoid plagiarism:

  • Avoid copying people's work, instead write your own contents.Say no to Plagiarism, use your ideas, be creative, think outside the box.

  • Use plagiarism checker. This is a tool that will help to check if your work or idea has been brought up already by another author. Plagiarism checker can easily be checked online using chrome or any other browser.

Thanks for reading!!

Thank you

Thanks a lot for taking part in this contest. But you are required to write a plagiarism free post and here you have plagiarized the marked portion in the screenshot below

You must desist from this act and only share a plagiarism free contents

@ngoenyi Thanks ma'am, but I was trying to show how citing is done at that point. That is why I copied the work and credited the owner by writing a source.
Should I remove it from the post?

@ngoenyi I have made changes to that. That was accidental. Thanks for understanding.

Alright, it's ok.
