Hello steemit friends,
today I am very excited to fulfill my achievement No. 3, which was assigned to me by @ngoenyi after successfully completing my achievement No. 2
Let's talk a little about plagiarism
As a journalist by profession I am quite familiar with how delicate is the plagiarism that basically consists of taking content that is not yours and passing it off as your own. It is such a delicate issue that in our country Venezuela is not legally punished but appears as an aggravating factor within the laws; this means that you are violating an author and can have legal consequences, since plagiarism is synonymous with theft and aggression against an author.
what do you steal?
hours of work, effort, dedication, creativity..
Now, Steemit is a platform to CREATE own and quality content, where each user must put their brain to work and be original, it is not necessary to plagiarize to generate interest in other users, being ourselves we can reach more people.
Types of Plagiarism
Complete plagiarism
- This overt type of plagiarism occurs when a writer submits someone else’s work in their own name. Paying somebody to write a paper for you, then handing that paper in with your name on it, is an act of complete plagiarism—as is stealing or “borrowing” someone’s work and submitting it as your own. source
Direct plagiarism
- Direct plagiarism is similar to complete plagiarism in that it, too, is the overt passing-off of another writer’s words as your own. The difference between the two is how much of the paper is plagiarized. With complete plagiarism, it’s the entire paper. With direct plagiarism, specific sections or paragraphs are included without crediting (or even acknowledging) the author. source
Paraphrasing plagiarism
- Paraphrasing plagiarism is what happens when a writer reuses another’s work and changes a few words or phrases. It’s a common type of plagiarism, and many students don’t even realize it’s a form of plagiarism. But if you’re presenting someone else’s original idea in your writing without crediting them, even if you’re presenting it in your own words, it’s plagiarism. source
Self-plagiarism
- Self-plagiarism can be an issue if you write professionally. When you’re commissioned to write for a client, the client owns that work. Reusing your own words for subsequent clients is plagiarizing your own work and can damage your professional reputation (as well as make your clients look bad). source
How do we avoid plagiarism?
The first thing is to create your own and original content, but if you need to rely on some research the best is quoting, if you are going to place a sentence verbatim you must place "".
example:
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution. Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics. @heriadi
I'm still new to steemit so I'm still studying. So I thought I'd move on to other communities after Achievement 4. Authentication is expected. Thank you.
