Hi Steemians! It's so great to be here! We are going to be talking about Content Etiquette While Writing here on SteemIt.

Source

INTRODUCTION
It was confusing for me when I first began. I wanted to start writing officially on SteemIt I made so many errors but I was wise enough to send it to my mentor @fredquantum who helped me and guided me. There's no shame in getting support from your mentor. Sometimes,pride gets in the way to ask questions all to prove our intelligent and good we are, which has nothing to do with that...
You don't have to do that.

My Objective
At the end of this article, you should be able to;
✓ explain plagiarism;
✓ know how to avoid plagiarism
✓ know the consequences for plagiarism
✓ list the various ways one could practice plagiarism and ;
✓ the various SteemIt community etiquette.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, defines "the act of plagiarism as stealing and passing off one's ideas or words of another as one's one". One can simply say plagiarism as the process of taking other people's words and/or ideas and pretending they are yours.
Steemit frowns hugely at this action. It is considered as a big offence, you do not want to be found guilty..Source

STEEMIT'S POLICIES ON PLAGIARISM
If you are posting plagiarized or copied content, you can get in legal trouble for violating copyright laws. Plagiarized posts and spam are seen as abuse and will be downvoted by community members. If you are posting or using someone else’s content, you must ensure that you have the rights to use the content, and properly reference the sources where you got the material from.

How to avoid Plagiarism on SteemIt.
It's very simple, always read the rules and regulations on SteemIt communities before posting anything and always be sure to cite your source in your work. This way you are giving credit to whoever or wherever you got your write-up from.

Consequences of Plagiarism on SteemIt.
There are so many consequences for one's action especially on Plagiarism. Plagiarism is being patronized mostly by students and they get punished for it but we are not talking about them. Here are some consequences on SteemIt;
• downvote you
• your reputation will drop
• one will be blacklisted which will stop you from getting upvotes.

SteemIt Etiquette
Here are some etiquette you should know on SteemIt;

  1. Don't post and run: This means you should just post on SteemIt only but also to vote and comment on other users post.
  2. Don't over post : This means don't post more than 4 times a day.. I think it's best you post just 3 times a day, because if it's more than that your payouts would reduce.
  3. Don't post nudity unless you would be flagged
  4. Don't fake, plagiarise or pass off other people's work as your own.
  5. Don't re-steem everything you see : This you can also mean over posting. In a way,it's great to share your write up again but also be considerate about the fellings of your followers.

CITATION
I decided to talk a little on this because it's important I do and must understand why it's necessary.
In SteemIt, you do not copy and paste without giving a reference or link of which you copied it from or else it would be tagged plagiarism and you would be blacklisted. So, to avoid that simply put a link to where the content came from.
Here's an excerpt I got from @cryptokannon.
"Every copy/pasted sentence should be either in quotes “” or formatted using the > markup."
"Every paraphrased paragraph, sentence or idea should have a reference as close to it as reasonably possible to indicate its origin."
