PLAGIARISM EXPLAINED
Plagiarism can simply be put as an act of coping/pasting/editing or little-changing the write up of someone else work without quoting or making referencing to the original writer or author.
When a writer or an author, write something on his/her project/book which someone else as written in his/her book or work and this said work or write up is made or written exactly the way and manner in which the other person said it without quoting the person we can say that it is PLAGIARISM because it as been said by another writer as the original owner.
Plagiarism is a serious offence in the writing industry and it's totally unacceptable in Steemit, Steemit don't joke with plagiarism.
Plagiarism is very common nowadays through the Internet because it make it more accessible and most writers don't even pay rapt attention to this.
CITATION
A "citation" is the way you tell your readers that certain material in your work came from another source. It also gives your readers the information necessary to find that source again, including:
a. information about the author
b. the title of the work
c. the name and location of the company that published your copy of the source
d. the date your copy was published
e. the page numbers of the material you are borrowing
source
For instance:
“The beauty of democracy is that its practice is
never final and always has room for
improvement no matter how old a democratic
society may be. Where we falter,we must not
fall. When we are weak, we must not
surrender”
Goodluck Jonathan(My Transition hour page 56, Chapter 2)
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
I will talk on the following four(4) types of Plagiarism.
1. SOURCE BASED PLAGIARISM
This type of plagiarism simply mean when a person wrongly or ignorantly cite the source of a write-up instead of the original owner of the write up source. The writer could also make mention of source that doesn't even go in line with what he/she is saying.
This type of plagiarism refers to instances when misleading sources are involved. For example, the writer may have two sources of information but only reference one. Another form of source-based plagiarism would be when an author quotes a non-existent or incorrect source.

2. DIRECT PLAGIARISM
This type of plagiarism is what I call word to word putting down of someone work. It is as simple as copy and paste (ctl+c), the person who engaged in this kind of act is a thief and such is unethical in so many spheres of life.
Direct plagiarism, also known as verbatim or copy-paste plagiarism, is an intentional and unethical form of stealing content. As the name suggests, the writing is stolen word for word and pasted into the new piece. The author then tries to pass off the content as their own. A word or two might be changed, but this type of plagiarism is too blatant to be considered paraphrasing.

3. ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism doesn’t always happen on purpose. It’s still considered plagiarism when someone copies another’s writing without citing their source, improperly cites the source or leaves out quotation marks on accident. Just because the omission or incorrect citation was accidental doesn’t mean plagiarism hasn’t been committed. This is why it’s important to check any work and when in doubt, give your source credit.

4. MOSAIC PLAGIARISM
With this type of plagiarism, the work of someone else is simply paraphrased without proper citation. It’s often difficult to detect because the plagiarized material is interwoven with many different sources, including the writer’s own ideas and perspective.
This type of paraphrasing can be done from one or several sources. The writer may try to change up the sentence structure or use synonyms to make it seem original. However, taking the idea of another piece is still plagiarism, even if the words are switched up a bit and intermingled with original thought.

HOW CAN I AVOID PLAGIARISM AS A WRITER?
Follow these four steps to ensure your paper is free from plagiarism:
- Keep track of the sources you consult in your research. This mean you must clearly state the where you got your information from in your write up.
- Paraphrase or quote from your sources (and add your own ideas). When you quote and also add your own view about what you are writing on that will reduce the plagiarism in your write-up.
- Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list. Clearly write the source of all citation and referencing them accordingly.
- Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.

CONCLUSION
You can see from the image below that the lady in the picture is plagiarising the work of her colleague in whatsoever work they might be doing.
With this my ACHIEVEMENT3 writeup I have fully come to the understanding that Plagiarism is very dangerous and should be abolished in every facet of life, we should do everything possible to cultivate the habit of not copying the work of others, be it project or an article write-up without making reference or acknowledging them.
