Having joined steemit for a few weeks, I have come to understand that security is a core need for operations in the steemit ecosystem.

I have successfully received all my keys and have understood the functions each key play.

The master key, owner key, active key, posting key and the memo key, though may have different functions, compliment each other to build a solid security system on this platform.

THE MASTER KEY, as its name suggest, is the key needed to acquire all other keys. It is the most important key and losing it will cost you your account.

During account recovery, THE OWNER KEY is needed. This key is needed to reset all other keys.

THE ACTIVE KEY is basically the transaction key. Activities like transfer of steem dollar, conversion of steem dollar and powering up are all executed by the active key.

For daily login activities like creating a post, editing, adding/following other users and commenting, THE POSTING KEY is required.

THE MEMO KEY is needed during encryption and decryption of memos.

After coming to a realization of how important the keys are and can cost you your account when misplaced, I have saved all my keys as a pdf file and saved them on different storage devices.

Tranfering your steem to other account is quite an easy process. Go to your wallet, click on liquid steem then click option, transfer. You then enter your username and the other username and send.

To power up steem, go to your account wallet and click the liquid steem. Click the powerup option and it's done!
