Hello Friends,
Hope all are doing well.
This is my 3rd post in NEWCOMERS COMMUNITY on Plagiarism.
Let’s start,

"Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work." Source

Following are common types of Plagiarism.

  1. Direct Plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and without quotation marks. The deliberate plagiarism of someone else's work is unethical, academically dishonest, and grounds for disciplinary actions, including expulsion.

  2. Self Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism occurs when a creators submits his or her own previous work, or mixes parts of previous works.

  3. Mosaic Plagiarism
Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when a creator borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original. Sometimes called “patch writing,” this kind of paraphrasing, whether intentional or not.

  4. Accidental Plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism occurs when a creator neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, groups of words, and/or sentence structure without attribution.

In fact it is easy to copy and paste some one else content or present someone else's ideas in your word in short run but it has very serious consequences in long run.
Some are mention below.

  1. Plagiarism is not a good practice on only the Steemit platform but in our life also. Many Steemians are in their academic phase. There also if any one found with similar assignment or project or similar answers in exam, it could mean you fail an assignment or class and face disciplinary action.
  2. In professional life this can result in damage of reputation, legal repercussions or even losing your job.
  3. On Steemit platform all are looking to your post. Eventually it get notify if anyone plagiaries work. It will damage reputation and it will affect on earnings from post.

For avoiding Plagiarism we can take following steps,

    1. Appreciate original creator by giving them proper citation. Its means mention source link so anyone can go through that link and connect with original creator.
    2. Anybody want to take some images for presentation or explanation, use website which allow to copy their content for free.

    3. If you want to use quotations then use as it is in quotation marks and mention name of original author.

4.Create and present original ideas, it takes efforts and time but its good practice for long run.

Good to see that you gain detail about what is Plagiarism.

Additional details:

  • Make a blog/post in any community or relevant community but one blog/post in only one community.

  • Do not post the same in different communities because the Steemit community doesn't support such activity and see that as spamming.
