Achievement Task 6: Understanding Curation and Community by @manuelhooks

Greetings to everyone!
The excitement associated with reaching this level in my achievement tasks is enormous. I really have to express my appreciation to @cryptokannon and the team of greeters for all the assistance and the beautiful way this tutorial program have been organized.

For my achievement six, I am expected to express my knowledge in the area of community and curation Wich will cover the most ideal time to cast a vote and why. I will also look at the rationale behind joining a community or voting for a certain witness on steemit.

Voting and curation:

To be successful in the Steemit platform, you should be able to create high quality content. To identify and reward quality content the concept of voting on quality content was introduced. This concept has it that, if published content is of real value, people will interact with the content and it's creator. They will vote and

comment on it. Some will have additional comments and experience to add to the content. This system known as proof of brain uses the collective reaction of the people to judge the quantity of a post. The more votes the people are placing on a post the more they are telling the steemit Blockchain to reward the author. A voter with a higher Steem power reserve and higher reputation exerts more influence on the Blockchain. So the value of ones vote is directly proportional to the Steemians Steem power. While Steemians with lower Steem power are expected to vote with all they have, a Steemian who's Steem power is from 500 and above is provided with this bar

and is expected to adjust the bar based on how he rates the posted content. The amount paid to the author is not from the voters account but comes from a reward pool created by the steemit Blockchain and this reward given to the content creator is referred to as "Author rewared" .

Curation is the process of identifying high quality content and placing a vote on it. You can only truly identify good content by reading through it.
For reading and isolating quality content through your vote the steemit Blockchain sets aside 50% of the total vote to be shared among all the curators based on the power of their vote. This reward paid to the one voting is called "curation reward"

What is the most effective time to vote
After a post is published, there is a five minutes gap after which you can place your vote. I believe the five minutes window will allow the curators time to read and properly. Placing your vote earlier than 5 minutes after it was published would mean that the post was not read and so the curation is not proper.
The steemit platform will not reward such a curation with the full curation reward it deserves.

Who I am voting in for witness and why

I voted on @steemchiller, I decided to place on out of my 30 votes on Steem chiller because the Steemchiller account has been very active and has provided steemit and Steemians with steemworld which is an effective tool.
I have seen Steemchiller interact and up-vote some posts

Selecting Communities
My steemit journey started with Steemalive were I got some lessons from @focusnow and @ngoenyi. I latter got an interesting welcome from Steem Bangladesh. My love for kids took me to Steem kids while the adventure connected me to Steem travelers
My profile shows that I have joined a number of Communities and this is why I joint some.
Once a Community's aim and objectives aligns with mine, then I subscribes for such a community.
