Plagarism

Plagarism is the stealing of someone else's work, it is called stealing because there was no right to the use of the work or when one claims ownership of another author's work or idea.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, plagiarism is;

"The practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own".
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition.source

Types of plagiarism.

Direct Plagiarism: The use of same word, phrase and sentence of a section of someone else's work, without the use of quotation marks or proper citation is considered unethical and academic dishonesty.

Self-Plagiarism: when a person submits his/her own previous work or a mixture of past assignments without permission from the person involved is said to be self plagiarism

Patch Writing: This is also known as "Mosaic Plagiarism." It occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks.

Accidental Plagiarism: This occurs when a person neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes them. Unintentional paraphrasing or grouping of words that match some other source may also be consisdered as accidental plagiarism.

How to avoid plagarism
In most of the cases, we can avoid it by citing original sources. According to wikipedia

A citation is a reference to a source. More precisely, a citation is an abbreviated alphanumeric expression embedded in the body of an intellectual work that denotes an entry in the bibliographic references section of the work for the purpose of acknowledging the relevance of the works of others to the topic of discussion at the spot where the citation appears.source

This could be done by adding this markdown sign >
before your sentence and as well putting the word in quote and provide the source or reference it.
Also, it is not just words that should be cited, images should as well be cited.

How to cite an image

Step 1:paste your image in your writing page
Step2: open [write image source and then close]
Step3: open a bracket (paste the link of the image and close the image)
E.g image source

"I have read and understood the steemit etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to embrace them"
