I am glad to be a part of this great rewarding platform. I am here to write on my Achievement 2 task of which I will be talking about the different private security keys and its uses on the platform. Also, I will be sharing with you the steps in transferring funds from my account wallet to other wallet of my choice and also how to power up my Steem.
The following Password or private keys which is also known as functional keys plays a great role in different manners as to securing personal information from other users and also from being hacked by others.
When I registered on the Steemit blockchain, I downloaded a file which consisted of different private keys bearing different names with different functions. Each of this key contains different password made up of combinations of digits and letters being of lower and upper case and also with different QR codes.
When I read through this private keys that I downloaded, I found out their relevance and uses as to the blockchain and their restrictions.
Q1-Do you know each of these functions and restrictions?
Ans:- Yes, I received five functional keys and I know their functions and restrictions on Steemit.
(Private posting key, Private memo key, Private active key, Private owner key, Master password)
Private posting key: This key is used to log in to apps such as Steemit.com and perform social actions such as posting, commenting, and voting.
Private memo key: This key is used to decrypt private transfer memos
Private active key: This key is used for monetary and wallet related actions, such as transferring tokens or powering STEEM up and down
Private owner key: This key is used to reset all your other keys. It is also used in recovering all other keys if your account is compromised within 30 days at https://steemitwallet.com and it is also recommended to be kept offline at all times.
Master password: This password is also known as the seed password which is used in generating this document and it is advice not to be shared. It is the key used in downloading other keys if lost.
Q2- Have you retrieve all your keys on Steemit?
Ans2: My password is in a safe hand so its requires no retrieval yet, being that am always conscious of my documents.
Q3-how do you plan to keep your master password?
Ans3: To keep my master password, after downloading my private keys, I saved it on my mailbox which no body except me has access to and have also documented them into my confidential portfolios for safety.
Q4-Do you know how to transfer your Steemit token to another account?
Ans4: Yes, before I transfer my Steemit token to another wallet, I will first login to my Steemit account profile and then click on the wallet option at the top right side of the page as shown below.
After this process, I will be redirected to another page which is my wallet address page ‘https://steemitwallet.com/@mickymouse/transfers’ to be able to access my wallet as shown below.
From this page, I will then login my details i.e. my username and private active key before I can proceed on the transfer. After this, I will click on the Login option below on the pop-out page to access my wallet as shown below.
At this point, I will click on the arrow close to the Steem. After clicking on it, a drop down menu would appear where I now select on the Transfer option as shown below.
By clicking on the transfer option, a pop-out page will appear, this is where I now type in the username of the account I want to transfer the Steem token to and also the amount of Steem token I want to transfer. Then after this, I now click on the Next option as shown below.
After clicking on the Next option, another pop-out page will appear, this is where I have to confirm the transfer and then click on the Ok option as shown below.
After clicking on the Ok option, another pop-out page will appear, this is where I can complete my transfer by typing in my Active or Owner key or Master password and then click on the Sign in option to complete my transaction as shown below.
This is how to carry out a successful transfer of Steem tokens to another Steemit account, this is my wallet after the transaction has been carried out successfully as shown below.
Q5- Do you know how to power up your steem?
Ans: Yes. For powering up my Steem, I follow the same steps for question 4 till I get to my wallet, then I click on the small arrow pointing downwards to my Steem tokens, a drop down menu will appear where I then select on the Power up option as shown below.
After clicking on the Power up option, a pop-out page will appear where I now type in the amount of Steem I want to power up and then click on the Power up option as shown below.
After clicking on the Power up option, another pop-out page will appear, this is where I now type in the amount of Steem and convert it to Steem power by clicking on the Ok option as shown below.
