Hello everyone! I'm happy to have accomplished my Achievement 2 task, and today, I would like to do the next task which is achievement 3 and it's a task that demands I talk about Plagiarism.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's work, material, or ideas and doing it as if it's one's own work. It is a world problem where by writers "steal" other writers work without giving the credit for their work.
However plagiarism can be defined as illicit act in which writers tend to steal other writers works, articles or posts without appropriate citation( giving them credit for their works).

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
There are several types of plagiarism, and they include:

DIRECT PLAGIARISM
This is a serious form of plagiarism because it involves copying part of one's work word for word without quotation marks i.e a type of plagiarism in which a writer copys another writer's work or section of another writer's work without attribution, quotation marks or citations.

SELF PLAGIARISM
Self plagiarism is a phenomenon in which a writer copys his/her past work or includes a copy of their past work in the present work without permission. It involves copying oneself.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
It is a type of plagiarism that occurs due to ignorance. It is a situation whereby a writer copy's another writers content without citations. For instance If an author or authors fails to cite their source, unintentionally paraphrasing or any other work without attribution, then the author commits plagiarism.

MOSAIC PLAGIARISM
This type of plagiarism happens when a writer steals phrases or clauses from another writer without using a citation or quotation marks. It may either be intentional or unintentional but all the same, it's still plagiarism.

AVOID PLAGIARISM
It is very important for a writer to avoid plagiarism. It's best to be original and make authentic contents.
Theft is evil, you shouldn't steal someone's work because you wouldn't be happy if someone else steals your work.

However, there are diverse ways to avoid plagiarism.
So as to avoid plagiarism, writers have to cite the source of the content(if borrowed), apply quotation marks to borrowed content and cite images and sources.

Example;

Sepsis develops when an existing infection triggers an extreme immune system response in your body.
When you experience an infection, your immune system responds by releasing proteins and other chemicals to fight it. Sepsis occurs when this response gets out of control, triggering extensive inflammation.source

The example above talks about Sepsis, but the work isn't mine, so I had to cite where I got the work from so that the writer will receive credit for his/her work and I on the other hand will not be called out for content theft and will look professional.

We should try as much as possible to avoid plagiarism because it actually affects our social status. And also, plagiarism makes a writer to be seen by other writers as a dishonest person.
