Plagiarism. This is not an unfamiliar phrase. They are on almost everyone's lips. I'll be in no danger of exaggeration if I say everyone talks about them. In fact, in the aspect of our lives as writers and civilians, we find ourselves thinking about plagiarism. One must say the term "Plagiarism" is a very significant word to be on everyone's mind. Without any further ado let's define and illustrate the word plagiarism.

In consonance to my favourite dictionary, Collins, Plagiarism is comprehensively delineated as the "practice of using or copying someone else's idea or work and pretending that you thought of it or created it". More broadly plagiarism is also interpreted as the act of stealing.

In today's world, everybody wants to be better at something than everyone else, so to be the best they try to perform certain activities they are given to administrate superfluously. Several persons copy other people's intellectual properties in other to emerge as a more legible prospect person in a specific office.

Numerous people don't discern that in the interest of being competent you have to be authentic. Plagiarism robs a lot of people of the different opportunities in life, plagiarism leaves a grotesque stain on a reputation, plagiarism can destroy life work, to some students in academic fields plagiarism can end their stay in an institution. It is similarly alarming to learn that plagiarism incites a comprehensible but disquieting term labelled a "pecuniary backlash". If you are found culpable of plagiarism, the law may cite the owner of the original or stolen idea money to compensate for the theft depending on how the plagiarist used the work to earn money, and eventually, the plagiarist will be charged to pay monetary fines for infringement. This is indeed horrifying.

Reviews and Research have shown that a couple of celebrated personalities have been ensnared by plagiarism.

Plagiarism is the act of lying and stealing. Lying and stealing aren't good etiquette they are disastrous and horrific acts perpetrated by people who do not have the fear of God in them, Plagiarism is the psychological compulsion to accomplish something unfavourable and unpleasant. Those who exercise plagiarism in their field of work should be considered self-centred because they do not care about the people they stole from.

In Leviticus 19 vs 11, the Bible asserts that we shall not steal; we shall not deal falsely and we shall not lie to one another.
If the Bible kicks against plagiarism why should we as Christians indulge in it?

Directly, let's evaluate the traditional categories of plagiarism classified below.

  1. Direct Plagiarism
  2. Self Plagiarism
  3. Mosaic Plagiarism
  4. Accidental Plagiarism

DIRECT PLAGIARISM: This is the most prevalent variety of plagiarism. This refers to when an individual reproduces verbatim of someone else's inkling 💡

SELF PLAGIARISM: This is the deed of replicating a material written by one's self redundantly and repeatedly.

MOSAIC PLAGIARISM: This pertains straightaway to writers or civilians who facsimiled a work and spurned against citing a quotation or a link or preferably including the notions they adopted to the source they copied from.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM: This reflects on the negligence of incidentally misstep in recounting your sources accurately.
It also includes the oversight in citing paraphrased data.

In avoidance to plagiarism it is necessary to cite a source to a work of article we reconstructed or paraphrased with a link or a markdown.
