Hello folks, it is Nabanita.
I am climbing through the ladder of Steemit with the help from all of you here who are supporting newcomers like us with guidance and feedback.
To reach people effectively and make quality content firstly, we have to understand this basic rules and mechanics of this platform.
I have completed my Achievement 1, 2 and now it is time to talk about The Steem Etiquette, Achievement 3.
I hope this post by me might explain Plagiarism in a brief and concise manner.
The word etiquette stands for a set of protocols or a formal code of conduct that we should maintain being a part of a social or professional group.
These special rules are there to maintain the ethical and moral standard of this whole Steemit community.
Violating these rules might lead to damage to your reputation on this platform as well as criticism from other hardworking creators.
The first and most important rule among these is avoiding plagiarism.
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM
”The low grade plagiarism of popularity will never lead you to true contenment." Source
Steemit is a blockchain-based social media service and creators earn from adding genuine value to the network with their contents but the contents must have to be ORIGINAL.
Reproduction or redistribution of someone else’s original content without giving them credit is theft of Intellectual property.
Even using copyrighted content without paying for it is considered plagiarism.
Copying texts, images, ideas, music, videos and counterfeiting them fall under the category of plagiarism.
We have to be 100% honest and original with what we are presenting to the Steemit community.
Posting someone else’s plagiarized content is like theft. You won’t obviously like it if someone else copies your material without paying or giving credit to you.
If we even put someone else’s content in our article or blog post we have to cite them with their piece of work.
It not only gives some exposure to that creator but also makes you appear genuine, hence, it increases your credibility as a creator among others.
Here, creators are paid from the prize pool hence, earning from copying from someone else’s work is like double-spending. which is unethical, immoral and completely against the Etiquette of the Steemit network. And, we should not forget that nothing can be deleted from the blockchain ledgers. our unethical behaviour would be documented forever.
and I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
