ACHIEVEMENT 6 BY @nokas: UNDERSTANDING CURATION AND COMMUNITY

I am glad to commence achievement 6. Thanks a lot to @cryptokannon and all the members of the greeter team. Having read through the process of voting and Curation, I'm now in a position to answer the questions.

Do you understand how Voting and Curation work in Steemit?

Yes I do. Curation is the process of classifying and ranking of online posts for the purpose of attracting reward. How does it work in Steemit? It is done by curators (users knowledgeable and experienced in assessing a post) casting votes for the author (the writer of the post)

Usually, there is a fixed reward pool in Steem from which users vote on a post based on quality and content to distribute rewards from the reward pool.

Rewards depend on the user's Steem power: the more Steem Power you have, the more rewards you can distribute from the reward pool.

From the 21st Hardfork ( the latest version of the Steem Reward pool), the current distribution of the reward pool is as follows:
65% of the new tokens that are generated go to fund the reward pool which is split between authors and Curators
15% of the new tokens are awarded to holders of SP
10% pays for the Witnes to power the blockchain.
10% for the SPS/Steem DAO

I also understand about voting mana in voting and curating. The voting mana is the strength or the influence my vote has. A user starts with 100%. As one votes a certain amount is deducted from the voting mana.

As one continues to vote, the infuence of the vote begins to drop although there is 20% recharge daily.
Anew user starts with 100% vote which is when the SP reaches 500 SP.

What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes mark after posting?

If I vote a post before 5 minutes mark after posting, some fractions of the rewards will go to the rewards pool while some will go to me. The percentage of rewards that Will acrue to me depends on the time of voting the post from the first second after the post to the last 5 minutes and later.

Usually, of the 65% that goes to the rewards pool, it's split 50%/50% between the author and the Curator. Of the 50% that goes to the Curator, the Curator will receive less than 100% if the Curator votes within the first 5 minutes.

Usually, the split of the 50% that the Curator receives is calculated linearly with respect to time. That's the reward the Curator receives is inversely proportional to the time from the first 5 minutes.

If a post is Upvoted the moment of posting, 100% of the Curation reward will remain in the reward pool

At 1 minute, the Curator receives 20% and 80% remains in the reward pool.
At 2 minutes, the Curator receives 40% and 60%eemains in the rewards pool.
At 3 minutes, the Curator receives 60% and 40% remains in the rewards pool.
At 4 minutes, the Curator receives 80% and 20% remains in the rewards pool.
At 5 minutes (or later) after posting, 100% of the Curation reward goes to the Curator.

Who will you vote for Steem Witness and why?

I would like to vote for @steemchilleer that developed one of the Blockchain Tools: Steemworld.org. That work is a master piece. When you log into it, they are various options that will enable you carry out many operations. The dashboard will enable you check your Steem power, Reputation, Rewards summary and many more. Among other options include:

• witness overview
• Block Explorer
• Account Recovery
• key Generator etc.
  That work is a classic and has enabled me grow fast in the system. The producer deserves accolades.

Another user I would like to vote for is @Katerinaramm. She compiled the markdown skill. This markdown helps me to format my post in a more efficient way. Both the basic and advanced markdown make my post very well organized, presentable, beautiful and easy to read.
Some of the important markdown styles include:

• Justify text
• Align text into two cells
• Super scripts and sub scripts

She has contributed so much to Steemit.
I appreciate the great work and her contribution to the Steem world.

I will not forget one of the greatest in Steem world, @cryptokannon; she deserves a place as a witness. She has efficiently and effectively coordinated the greeter team. I admire her so much.

Which Community will you join and why?

I have already joined crypto Academy. This is to enable me have vast knowledge in Cryptocurrency and at the long run make rewards from there.
I have also jointed Steemalive community. The community has provided me the platform to be trained in the art of writing quality posts.

In addition to the above, I would like to join:

• popular STEM: Science, Maths, Engineering. This three areas will help me develop the brain making my brain very acute and fast.
• project HOPE: Economy, Crypto and marketing.
  These three go hand in hand. They will help me achieve my aspirations in the world of Cryptocurrency. Digital currency is the next generation of business hub. Digital currency will form the economic drive of majority of people all over the world. I don't want to be left behind.
