I am delighted to write my achievement 3 post on content etiquette, I am happy that my achievement 1 and 2 post was verified and approved.

PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is using the content or write up of another person to achieve a certain purpose without given credit to the original source or owner, be that as it may it is equal to ( stealing ) it is also worthy to note that there are many facets of plagiarism, so I want to elaborate and state them out categorically.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

there are over 5 types of plagiarism, but I will mention and explain 4,

CLONE PLAGIARISM
DIRECT PLAGIARISM
ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
SELF PLAGIARISM

In this 4 forms of plagiarism I want to explain now there are some that seems similar to the other but differs in variation, I will begin with the explanation of clone plagiarism,

CLONE PLAGIARISM

Clone is an act of submitting another persons work or write up word for word (vabatim) as ones own, it is dangerous and deceitful because those who do not really know may conclude that it is his or her brain work, it is dangerous because when the person is asked to come and defend the write up he will not be able to do so thereby subjecting himself or herself to shame and ridicule.

DIRECT PLAGIARISM

direct plagairism is similar to clone plagiarism but differs in variation, it is the word for word transcription of a section of someone's work without attribution and quotation Marks, it is truely unethical, disciplinary action may come from it, it can also lead to expulsion from the steemit community.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM

accidental or unintentional plagiarism occurs when a writer fails to follow procedures and accidentally copies parts of work that have already been composed, it is dangerous because the plagiariser can not explain in details the content and context of what he or she just copied.

SELF PLAGIARISM

Self plagiarism is when someone copies or rewrite a post he or she has preciously done without proper citation, in fact let me use myself as a case study, if I retrieve my old Post then make little adjustment and repost it to different community then I am self plagiarizing, it is deceitful because it shows that I am bereaved of what to write.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGAIRISM
  • Take time and do thorough research.

*Make use of your intelligent quotient.

  • Be real especially in steemit community.

  • Give credit where credit is due. For instance, properly source materials taken from other sources.
    Example:

"The best way of avoiding plagiarism is to learn and employ the principles of good academic practice from the beginning of your university career. Avoiding plagiarism is not simply a matter of making sure your references are all correct, or changing enough words so the examiner will not notice your paraphrase; it is about deploying your academic skills to make your work as good as it can be." - OXFORD UNIVERSITY

DANGER'S OF PLAGIARISM
  • It damages someone's reputation.

  • It can lead to suspension from the steemit community.

  • It has legal repercussion (being sued to court } and if proven it can lead to either imprisonment or fine for damages.

CONCLUSION

I have read and understood the steemit etiquette on steemit community and I promise to do my best in embracing them, I will always make use of my intelligent quotient so as to be real.
