Achievement2 Task by @peterkeyz: Basic Security on Steem

Greetings to all steemians those that have a member for a long time and those that are just joining the the platform. The task in this achievement 2 is to talk about the basic security on steem.

What is Steemit security?

Steemit security is a means of protecting account from theft and hijack. There are means of protecting account that has been provided on the platform to ensure that our accounts are safe. These means of protection is done with the help of keys comprising of letters and alphabets. These keys must be kept safe offline, and it should not be revealed to anyone.

These keys are used for different operation which I will be explaining as follows.

Posting key:

This key is designed to be used for tasks such as posting,voting on social sites. It is used to login into the account. This key can not be used for financial transaction making the account safe even if this keys gets to the wrong hand.

Active key:

This key is used for financial transaction i.e sending tokens from your account to another user. This key is very important because it will give permission for your fund to be transferred. This keys should be used on sites that is trusted.

Owner key:

This key is used to change other keys like the posting key and the active key. It is also used to recover account, thus making it very important. It should be kept safe.

Memo key:

This key is used to encrypt and decrypt private message.

Master Password:

This is the main account password sent through the email on opening an account. This key is used to assess the wallet where you will see other keys. This password should be safe offline.

Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
Yes. My keys are written down in a safe place offline.

Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Yes. As I explained above. I know each keys and its uses.

How do you plan to keep your master password? I used different means to save the password. It has been store offline, written down.

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Yes I do. All you have to do is to go to Steemit wallet and click on the drop down on the steem token as shown below.

• Then you will be taken to where to fill the form for the transaction as shown below:

• You will fill the form, and you will be taken to where you will validate with your active key.

Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

Yes I do. Just to follow the steps below.

• Open the wallet, and go to the drop-down menu as shown below
  

• you will click on power up and you will be directed here:

• You will input the amount of steem to power-up and then validate by entering the active key as shown below.
