INTRODUCTION
BIO: iam Peters Ngbede Richard aka proxyb, 35 years of age, 6feet tall, a Christian, a Nigerian reside in uyo akwaibom state Nigeria.
Just like in every platform or organization there are rules and regulations governing or guiding them, also terms and conditions in businesses, in steemit, content etiquette is one of the tools guiding or guidelines/rules and regulations in steemit.
Everyone wants wages for his hard work, likewise every writer wants his work to reach every Conner of this world, some could even pay [promotion/advertisement]so that their works could be shared.
A writer won't be happy seeing someone pirating his piece of work and making credits without his/her consent or acknowledgement.
This article tells us the does not don't to avoid taking merit/advantage of people's work on Steemit.
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work source
Before i joined steemit April this year i use to know that copying of another author's work is called"piracy" due to this books whose content is copied from another author as " pirated copies".
I learned plagiarism since i joined steemit and now i can use the term in place of copied work or piracy.
Plagiarism is one of the greatest crimes on Steemit community platform.source
PLAGIARISM: is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas or expression as one's own original work.source
Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or idea as your own without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement.source
Plagiarism maybe intentional or reckless, or unintentionallysource
Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics, it is a subject of sanctions such as penalties, suspension and expulsion from school or work
source
TYPES OR FORMS OF PLAGIARISM.
In this context I will mention only four types of plagiarism though they could be more than these.
Self-plagiarism. this mean reusing parts of your own previous works, whereas your readers expect the work to be new and original.
source
Global-plagiarism. this means submitting an entire work written by someone else, this includes having a friend write your paper for you or buying an essay from an online essay mill, it is considered the most severe form of plagiarism because you're deliberately lying about the authorship of the work.
source
Mosasic-plagiarism. This is type of plagiarism whereby informations are gathered from different sources to create patchworks, this informations are gathered from other author's/researcher's works without proper citations/ consent or acknowledgements.
Copy and paste-plagiarism. this is also known as direct-plagiarism , it means copying a message from a source without a citation. If you want to use someone else's exact words, you need to quote the source and cite it correctly.source
HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM.
For me plagiarism make you as a writer cheap and unserious, though a whole lot of people go into plagiarism because of the following reasons
Ignorance
Poor attitude
Speed
Lack of content
Above all laziness
Non of the above reasons is justifiable for plagiarism..
One can avoid plagiarism by the following points
1 always cite the source when you quote, paraphrase or summarize.source
2 when you want to include an exact phrase, sentence or passage from source, use a quotation.source
3 when you want to express an idea or information from a source, paraphrase or summarize it entirely in your own wordssource
"I have read and understood the steemit etiquettes on Steemit community and will do my best to embrace them".
CONCLUSION
Say no to plagiarism, there are penalties attached to it, rather be original, honest/true, be creative and be yourself.
I believe with this few points of mine , I have been able to give little epiphany to what plagiarism is all about.
Thank God for the success of this achievement, truly it has not been really easy but God is faithful, also i wanna say a big thank you to this wonderful people @utibeoeffiongart, @ngoenyi for their support anytime, God bless you real good.
