Hello, buddies hope all is going well. I have completed my achievement 2 task and I here to complete my achievement 3 task about “content etiquette”. First of all, lets discuss what is plagiarism:
PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism may be defined as using someone’s work may it be any document, image, song, or tune without giving any reference to the creator. Basically, plagiarism is stealing someone’s creation for your work without giving any credit or reference to the original creator. It is like stealing someone’s intellectual property and that is really unethical .one should use proper citations if he/she is using someone else’s work.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
PATCHWORK PLAGIARISM OR MOSAIC PATCHWORK
Paraphrasing someone else's work without proper citation falls under this type of plagiarism. It is very difficult to detect this kind of plagiarism because plagiarised material is intermingled with many different sources including the publisher's own ideas and opinions. In this type of plagiarism, the publisher may use different synonyms to make it look original.
PARAPHRASING PLAGIARISM
It is the most common type of plagiarism very similar to mosaic plagiarism but the main difference is that the plagiarised material is not interwoven with new ideas and research.
COMPLETE PLAGIARISM
Complete plagiarism is the most severe form of plagiarism. It may be defined as a complete copy-paste of someone else's work without changing anything in that and submitting it as your own work. Only authors' name changes in this kind of plagiarism. This type of plagiarism is more common in academic writing.
SELF-PLAGIARISM
When somebody submits his previous work as new publishing falls under this kind of plagiarism.
self-plagiarism may mislead the readers by presenting old work as new. If someone is using his old work then proper citations must be used in this regard.
ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is not always happening intentionally. It is always considered plagiarism when you use someone else's work without proper references or misquitoes or paraphrases a source by using synonyms unintentionally.
SOURCE-BASED PLAGIARISM
when somebody cites some incorrect source or source which don't exist in his work then this kind of work falls under source-based plagiarism. when somebody uses a secondary source of information and citing the primary source of data then also it is considered as source-based plagiarism.
How to Avoid Plagiarism
one should do his work solely through his ideas and creativity to avoid any sort of plagiarism in their publishan . if you want to use any information, image, or video then proper references must be given in order to avoid plagiarism. so one must keep the track of all the sources which he/she has used and these sources must be cited with proper references in your work.
