Task for Achievement 2

in hive-172186 •  4 years ago

Happy Friday everyone! Posting to show I've read about steemit's keys. Now it makes sense that I have to sign-in everytime I go to my wallet. There are multiple security layers to using this site.

Question 1- Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
Yes, upon creating an account, five keys were generated and I followed the instructions to safely store each of them despite not really understanding why I needed five passwords.

Question2- Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Having read a few posts since creating my account, I understanding the following:

Posting key – Use this password to login to steemit for the purpose of posting, upvoting, resteeming, and following other steemit accounts.
Active key- Use this password to login to steemit for the purpose of transferring funds, processing transactions, and changing profile information in addition to the functionality listed in the posting key.
Owner key- Use this password to login to steemit for the purpose of changing account settings, and changing permission keys in addition to the functionalities listed in the posting and active keys.
Memo key- The memo key is used for private messaging in case you want to encrypt and decrypt private messages.
Master key -The actual password that you get after signing up for steemit. The only reason why you should using this key is because you need to perform an account recovery.

Note to self: All the keys could be found in Wallet--> Keys and Permission

Question 3-How do you plan to keep your master password?
The good old fashion way on paper. While I like some password manager services, I am not keen on paying a fee. These days, it's easy enough to get suckered into buying online subscriptions for everything.

Question 4- Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
While I couldn’t find anything in the article or links in the article related to this task, my interpretation is that you could send STEEM or Steem Dollar (SBD) to another user. Nevertheless, you go to your wallet in Steemit, click on the STEEM or SBD amount, select transfer. In the to field, enter the name of the recipient.

Question 5-Do you know how to power up your STEEM?
Go into wallet, click on the arrow that is displayed to how much STEEM you have, and select power up. There will be a balance shown which would let you know how much STEEM you could use to convert to STEEM POWER.
