Hello Steemians!
I hope you're all fine. May Allah bless you a happy healthy long life. Ameen.
After completing my task "Achievement 1" (introducing myself to steemit), I'm moving on to Achievement 2, which focuses on securing our Steem accounts.
In this brief summary, I’ll guide you through the purpose of each key and how to use them to keep your Steem account safe from anyone.
As you know, passwords are essential for logging into accounts. With Steem, your password is split into different keys based on the actions, you want to take. It’s important to understand how to use each key, which you received, when downloading the PDF after your first login.
The best way to keep your Steem account secure is to store your master password in a safe place. You can also use other secure options like Dropbox or Google Drive to store your important security documents.
When logging into your Steem account, make sure you're using the correct key based on its specific function.
Here are the key types every Steem user should know:
Private Posting Key
This key is used for everyday activities like logging in, posting, commenting, and up-voting.
Private Memo Key
The Private Memo Key is used to encrypt the private messages you send through the block-chain, keeping them secure.
Private Active Key
This key is for managing your assets, such as transferring tokens, powering up or down, trading, and using the market.
Private Owner Key
The Private Owner Key lets you reset all your passwords and recover your account within 30 days if it's ever hacked.
Master Password
Your master password is used to create new passwords and generate new PDF documents. Never share it with anyone, as it’s the most important password that protects your entire Steem account from theft.
This post is completely a Brief Summary of Security Keys of Steem account. Kindly understand it very clearly about each key and save your document in a very safe place and never share to anyone.
I hope this will be very useful for myself and all new users for learning and understanding the use and security of Keys.
